I think its kinda cool that she did it as a joke. The vines did a cover of outkast's "ms. Jackson" It was really cool to see. I'm finally d/ling the avril song now. I expect it to be funny... as long as its taken lightly its not such a bad thing

Unfortunately she's still young and her record company has a lot of control over her .. you know, like OLP .. so again unfortunately her record company is trying to sell an image rather than focus on HER and HER talent .. am I gonna hold that against her? No .. I've never once heard her say she was punk .. she isn't punk .. that's just another label people use.

OLPFan420 wrote:She can sing, I will say that. She is a whole hell of a lot better than Britney Spears, but then again, who isn't? I am sick of the image she tries to stick to. She isn't punk, at all, yet she says she is? Just because you wear funny bracelets and a tie doesn't mean you are punk. When she sings about something worthwhile like the government, then I will buy into the whole punk image. Until then, I will continue to despise her.

.... agreed. except i dont know if i would ever buy into the punk image from avril

She just doesn't want to be put in the same category as Britney .. and she shouldn't ..she's above Britney, though who isn't? I don't blame her either .. she's not pop, she's not punk, she's not 'hardcore' .. she's Avril .. let it go with that and stop with all the labels .. that's the problem .. everyone is so quick to tag a label onto someone.

I just dont appreciate that she's making young kids think they're "punk" because they like avril, GC, etc... Not that i'm labling avril punk, i think it would suck if a few years from now being punk is the "cool" thing to do even more than it's already become.

She's not making anybody do anything .. young kids are gonna go around thinking they're a lot of things .. it's part of growing up and discovering who you really are .. it's no different than people here wanting to know where Raine got his wristband so they can get one too ..

good point! It just pisses me off that acting "punk" is become the cool thing to do

I find it kind of funny .. at the Good Charlotte show seeing 10 year olds with mohawks and chains hanging from their pants and all that .. it's just a trend that will fade I'm sure.
