It seems OLP plays almost the exact setlist, with minor changes, for many concerts in a row. I'd love to see it switched up a lot more. There could be a few songs that stick around more often than others, but I'd love to see non-singles from different albums make more frequent appearances.
ya thats true - but its the way it goes, i was in a band for a few years myself and you make set list and rehearse the hell out of it so that its perfect when you take it to the road - and as you may notice you wear the same damn clothes every night too!!!! its just the way it goes in this biz for the most part
BUT
with that being said OLP has the chops and the catalog of songs that i know for a fact they could bust out songs they haven't played in years no probs, and even if the clam it up i bet it would still sound cool....the main focuss this summer is to promote BB, but im sure once they do up a propper tour and have the 2 hour set times etc they will start having fun with stuff like that - they are having fun again and that is cool and i am sure that energy will translate to the live shows this year
Well, tell them the challenge has been issued. They've done the robo-setlists for A Decade (pun intended) it seems, and I don't think that variation will every get there. Tell them a challenge has been issued and to man up when they do a full tour.
OPEN TAPING PLEAAAAAAAAAAAAAASE.
Thank you.
<nam_kablam> I'll be naked holding a ":O" sign while pumping their door
hahah the open taping is tough, you have to pay big bucks to do that - same with filming etc - the promoters want a piece of everything that is made off the shows ya know?
so they just assume if you are taping or filming you are gonna sell and then want to you play licensing fees...sad but true...but things might be changing out there these days so who knows

That's good to hear. I'm wondering if songs never played live (Is It Safe? or All My Friends, *hint-hint*) will make their debuts.
Yeah, it's far fetched I know. I've always wanted to do just 1 show proper. Though, I've captured some amazing things over the years. Except when I got busted at Edgefest in '06. That sucked.
Full B-side release, personal fan interaction, and fix those set lists. There's your top 3.

Don't know if this is still the case--OLP are as wont to change their minds as anyone else, of course--but at one point Raine threw out Is It Safe? as one of those songs they just don't want to ever play live. Which is sad, because that's among my favorite Naveed songs (there are about 11 on that list).
I just wanna get out,
Stuck inside of this.
Waiting for something else,
Yeah, in a 2002? interview the members listed some songs they'd probably never play live again, and Everyone's a Junkie was one of them, Consequences of Laughing, and I can't remember any others right now. I posted the link to that interview here before but I can't find it at the moment.
Yeah, I remember Jer saying that even though they really like Is It Safe?, they probably won't play it. But the band was also in a very different place at that time. It's years later now, and they might have changed their mind about a few of those. It wouldn't be the first time the band has gone back on their words... the constant change in release dates for albums, saying they'd never with a producer besides Lanni (even compared him to George Martin), etc.
I'm not saying it's going to happen, I'm just saying that just because the band stated something about it doesn't mean it'll never happen.
Or maybe something even stripped down. I love the Chris Cornell in Sweden acoustic album. It blows me away every time i hear it. One complaint I have about the Live DVD was that it seemed so glossy and layered. Seemed a little synthetic bit kick ass at the same time because it still captured that live essence. Drive is freaking stunning.
NOT as some sort of bonus thing on iTunes! Not saying that it needs to be a full-on CD release, but there are other online music distributors that provide better quality (CD-quality .flac files, etc).
Songs I would want to hear --
Sleeping In -- We have all heard the demo but it's like a lo-fi tape recording of Jeremy playing the studio recording for an audience or something. But it sounds like there is a great song underneath the distortion and noise.
A Waste of Violence -- It was nearly on Spiritual Machines and that's good enough for me.
Vampires
Talk Is Cheap
Hit the Wall
Yourself
Our Time Is Fading
Arrogant (what turned into Innocent)
Early versions of Not Afraid, Will the Future Blame Us.... anything else that went through BIG changes
2. Vary those setlists. We do not need to hear every single every night. Sure, some people can only make it to one show on a tour. They don't need to hear every single.
3. Open taping policy. Many indie and major bands make it possible for people to bring recording gear to their shows, which is great.

-I would like to see a .NET Presale for tickets, especially to the seated, headlining Canadian performances. Does not have to be a full on fan club (or maybe it does!) thing, but at least if the band can hold out the best seats for members of OLP.Net. We have seen varying methods of this through the years...
-I hope to be able to pre-order Burn, Burn through .Net - then I know that I am sending my money directly to the band for the most part and not Amazon or Wal-mart (no offense, Matt!)...I've done this with Pearl Jam and the Hip and their sites manage to have the album delivered on or before the release date.
-I think the online performance would be very cool! It reminds me of the Transparent Humans Radio Hour way back when!
-Oh yeah, I'd also like a headlining Seattle or Vancouver show soon! I could care less what the band plays every night, as long as I can get to see them play! hahahaha 3 years plus since my last show!
Respectfully submitted,

As far fetched as some of these ideas are, they are fantastic and I agree wholeheartedly!
I have one suggestion. For the proposed "fan concert" for .net... would it have an audience? Because it should. A small one of people who are known giant OLP fans. From here, obviously, but other fan communities, too (MySpace? Facebook? I'd say the CC but it's deadddd). I know there's at least a few of us who would travel QUITE a few miles to attend.

I would kill to be @ a concert like that Nikki, and I'd love to see all these CMers there as well. It would pose as not only a chance to see the band up-and-close but to meet up with all you fine folks!
As for location I'd prefer my backyard but I'd say somewhere near the Canadian/US border would be most fair? As for which side I don't know, is it harder for Americans to get into Canada or vice versa? I'd say vice versa.
