i kind of wish the deluxe reissues of pavement albums would stop because i can't afford to pay $20+ for each album (and i want them all). i just want the first disc goddammit!
i downloaded The Information but it hasn't really grabbed me yet. though i never did hear Guero in its entireity, so I don't sense any improvement on this album just yet.

You really ought to check out all the extras Pavement puts out. I mean, the cd, with 48-60 songs on it is only $15.99 and has a lot of material on it. Conversely, I will be paying $45 for the Tom Waits "Orphans" box set that has a few more songs on it than the Pavement re-release. I always thought their re-releases were done well and encourage people that own all their albums, like myself, to go out and buy them again.

I'm excited because I've never owned the original releases, just downloads and that sort of thing. So now when I'm looking to buy it they are re-releasing it with soo much extra stuff. And like Alan said, from what I've seen they put out b-sides the way other bands only dream of.
I love bands that release a lot of extras. Maybe I just like that because it makes being a fan more interesting, but it really makes me like the band more. It just seems like, in my experience anyways, the bands that are really into making music primarily are going to show that. Like I'm a big Jimmy Eat World fan and part of what keeps me interested in them is the fact that I am still collecting their music. They release more EPs and b-side with singles and stuff like that than I've ever seen any other band do. And I know that having a quality discography is important to any band, but from what I hear they play a lot of 'rare' songs at shows. It seems really obvious to say that, but its true. Them being excited about their music makes me excited about their music.

I know, I only found it on one website, and as far as I know TBS hasn't said anything about it, so it might just be a fuck-up but it might not, so we'll have to wait and see.

Bright Eyes is one busy little guy. Conor Oberst released two records last year and did three tours to support them. Now he's back with a collection of B-sides from the past seven years called Noise Floor. Surprisingly, the collection is better than I'm Wide Awake It's Morning and Digital Ash In A Digital Urn combined. It's in stores this week.
That sounds good to me!
I'm debating whather I should preorder Brand New (and get the single for free) and +44 (and get a free vinyl). I would....but I'm broke. And if I did that, I'd be really broke.
Also, I must join the flock of 14 year olds and get the new my chem today. wee!

Hah, I miss the song "While You're Waiting" so I think I am going to put that on and remind myself why I am glad I'm not 17 anymore.
What label is Alkaline Trio switching to?

I'm anxious for incubus. They are my next big thing.
I've taken to listening to and seeing local bands. Mainly cause I'm sick of not being able to see the bands I'm a fan of, so I'm becoming a fan of the bands that I can see.
There really are some kick ass bands too. Children of Eve just blow me away, because they put off a fantastic show and then their cd is impressive too. Its sad that this is as big as a band like that is going to be able to get though. They are probably the most popular local band here and have enough support to be the main act in every show they play, even if they arn't supposed to be the headliner. But its just not financially possible to tour anywhere outside the province, so they just play a ton of shows here and thats about it.
I would say that some of you should listen to them, but I don't think many people here like this kind of music. heh.
I took my friends to one of their shows and the left after 10 minutes and said "they were too angry" I told them it was good that they missed the metal band that played earlier.

I really like Noise Floor. I mean its really unbelievably good. For an album thats coming after two only semi-decent cd's and for only being a b-sides album that shouldn't really be as good or cohesive as a regular album, this is fantastic. Its the bright eyes that I really loved with Lifted and Fevers and Mirrors.
The Black Maria is pretty decent. Definately not too shabby. A good progression from the last album where they seemed to be more then a bit obvious at times. The only issue I have is that there really doesn't seem to be any good stand out tracks. Everything blends almost too well.
I can't wait for incubus.
+44 and Brand New are in the mail and I've been waiting FOREVER to get them and it makes me sad. lol. I want them to arrive already!!!
Also, there seems to be a significant lack of new good releases coming out.
I mean. After November I can't think of any new albums that are coming out that I want. Any suggestions anyone?
(there is the new fall out boy but that doesn't count. I'll download that suckage.

)
(Swan Lake album reviews are pretty good. Anyone here the cd?)
