a new update from the official site - 15 new songs have been recorded...they have been using one of those church-type organs for a couple songs and a couple songs have also been recorded with a full orchestra....sounds interesting..

apparently we can expect a new album in fall/winter...can't wait

So is any of this music being shared on the Hub? I'll admit I'm curious.

No no, I just mean in general.
I found the thread since it was posted in and now I want to hear the band.

Or you can go buy it and support Canadian indie music, cause that would be swell.

A new album this year would be great, but mark my words: we won't see it this year.

Two notes for this thread.

1. Don't be picky, support all music. Even if it is buying it used, just buy it. Don't be a cheapass.

2. The new album will either be a complete rehash of Funeral, or them trying something completely different. Either way, it will fall in the mediocre category. That's how all albums turn out after you come out with an impressive debut.

And to prove point #2, does anyone remember the Stone Roses? Yeah, their debut was awesome, but does anyone actually own Second Coming? Didn't think so.

I've actually bought two copies of "Funeral" because it's such an amazing album.

Seriously, go buy it, and support Canadian indie music. And you won't be disappointed, it's outstanding music..

And no i totally disagree with jellybones, the new cd will not be mediocre. Mark my words. it will be mind blowing.

It's not like I want the whole entire album, I want to hear it so if I like it I will go buy the album. That's what we have the Hub for - sharing music.

I'm not going to buy a CD of a band I've never heard, because if I hate it, it's just a waste of money. And I'm not going to support a band I don't like.

Aereogramme
Ash
Brand New
Cave In
Deftones
Doves
Dredg
Failure
Foo Fighters
Incubus
Jimmy Eat World
Metric
Muse
Nada Surf
Oceansize
Our Lady Peace
Pixies
Pretty Girls Make Graves
Radiohead
South
Stone Temple Pilots
Superdrag
theSTART
Weezer
A Whisper in the Noise
Yeah Yeah Yeahs (I know this one can be debated, but I like it more)

Those are all the artists I own albums by who have released followups either equal to or stronger than their debuts in my opinion. Some of these artists debut albums were decidedly weak enough to where I don't even own them (Radiohead, for example). Color me not worried about Arcade Fire though since that's not the case with them.

the Metric is debated too... although the first Metric album annoys the hell out of me when i listen to it these days

Then to get a good taste of the band, download these songs:

Neighbourhood #1 (Tunnels)
Neighbourhood #3 (Power Out)
Wake Up
Rebellion (Lies)

Let us know what you think...but keep in mind, most people don't start liking their music until after a few listens.
