Also, anyone else note the distinct and very unsurprising lack of any word of the Phantom at E3?

Actually, there are different games released on each system.
Plus, it looks like the Revolution might actually be quite a bit different.

I wish I could see the vids.
And is MGS4 going to be an actual launch game for the PS3?

I don't know. As one article said, it's entirely possible that MGS4 currently exists only in the mind of Hideo Kojima (although the extensive credits in the MGS4 teaser video would suggest otherwise).
Johnny, I highly recommend you download the MGS4 teaser. It'll take a while, but it's hilarious.

I don't think it will be though because I just don't see the game being ready by next year.

Nah, probably not.
In the meantime, I'll just keep playing MGS3.
Speaking of which, I also watched a trailer for the new MGS3:Subsistence.
Remember MGS Substance? It was a remake of the original PS MGS, but made for Game Cube. It had better graphics, multiplayer, etc.
Well, MGS3: Subsistence is a new and improved version of MGS3. It has multiplayer, online play, and a new feature where you can actually control the camera angle! That would make the game so much easier. I don't know about "better", but definately easier. I kind of enjoy the extra element of difficulty provided by not being able to see everything at all times (when it's not pissing me off. lol)

It took FOREVER!
Finally, I ended up beating him by following his tracks (with the thermal goggles), and I came up behind him and filled him with a magazine from the XM16E1.
