but
having said that
given the proximity to the islanders, rangers, pens and finally the flyers its sorta not entirely surprising that the team doesnt do better given the # of teams
it dosent have anything to do with all the other teams close by
the reason nobody cares about the the Devils and they cant sell tickets even tho they have great players is the style of the style of game they play
i mean have you ever actually watched their games, its so fuckin boring to see them play because all they do is trap, they win the cup, have some all star players, and even then they cant sell out their building

Well yeah I know, him and Kevin Smith, but I wanted other people to try and think of something... since it's almost impossible

i have watched them
a lot in fact
im a habs fan so i'd watch the canadiens play them some 4-5 times a year if not more, plus the sens or leafs etc etc (basically the cbc early and late games every week)
and as much as i dislike the trap when played by other teams, i dont mind it with them.. im not sure what it is really.. i think with the devils, marty brodeur's skill + the level of skill of some of their d-men is incredible.. and hot damn is that scott neidermayer so dreamy
err.. i mean..
seriously though i dont mind the devils, they always seem to have a good team and they maintain a (relatively) moderate payroll yet are competitive annually .. well.. if you can consider 50 mil moderate
(basically im looking at cost vs standings or success type ratio.. ie. bang for you buck and compare that to say, the leafs with well over 60 mil or the wings, av's, flyers, blues, rangers, etc etc)
as long as they dont face the habs in the playoffs i dont mind it
(especially when theyre knocking off the leafs mostly)

so its you that would be one of the few people in their half full building

like i said
neids is dreamy man
dreamy
haha
it depends on who theyre playing actually
i find the wild to be more boring then the devils, i think the devils have more actual/raw talent top to bottom then the wild and every now and then, you get to see that talent come thru in the devils

im not questioning the Devils talent, they do have some great players

i just find the Devils way to boring
i've always been a Leafs fan and there obviously all about offence and then just having a great goalie

i think more than anything when i watch them i see the talent that they do have (ie. neids skating ability, brodeur's everything, scott gomez, etc etc) and that makes up for the trap system they play
although
having said that, given a choice between that and say, a shootout, high flyin oilers vs av's end to end type of game.. i'd go with that anyday

this thread is hard for me
because
like
i find it very difficult to not refer to the leafs as the laffs or the rangers as the rags, etc etc like i normally do
its not meant in a derogatory sense just jokingly mind you but im so used to doing that

well you pretty much have to laugh at the rangers
atleast the Leafs are always competitive and never really miss the playoffs
the Rangers are just a joke

The Rangers are the best team in the entire NHL. The world even.

yes i completly agree.
that Jagr trade definatley put them over the top
and bobby holik, there is a superstar.....
im pretty certain Lundmark and Blackburn are the only thing on that team that even have a future
and when a 44 year old guy (Messier) is third on your team in points, you may have problems
dont get me wrong i do have respect of Messier, and the fact that he put up 43 points at that age is pretty damn good

talent-wise, possibly. but they just haven't delivered. there's more to building a team than putting a bunch of super-stars on it.
