For the third time, I started getting cramps (last week) WHILE taking the pill, and then my period comes early... before I finish my pill pack. And I get baaaaad cramps and really heavy flow. Argh!

:wtf::wtf::wtf:

This just started happening recently and it's driving me nuts! *tears hair out*

A friend suggested that maybe something has changed (other meds, etc) that is decreasing the effectiveness of the pill. I can't think of anything that has changed recently though.

Has anyone ever experienced this?

I would definitely get that checked out. I have been hearing such nasty things about the pill recently. It fucks with your body for life. Sorry Kathy it just scares me.
Cramps and early bleeding sounds like something isnt working as it should.
*hugs*

that's actually happening to me this month too. usually i get my period thurday or friday after the saturday that i stop taking the pill, but this time i got my period on monday, i had slight cramps, and really heavy flow, which is unusual. however, i took a break from my pill the month before, so this might just be my body trying to get used to it again.

but yeah, i would also suggest going to the doctor if your pill isn't working the way it should

um kathy: you're not supposed to be drinking with the pill. alcohol lowers its effectiveness.

ok one doctor told me that, and another doctor said it's not true. Then I also found conflicting information when I looked it up online (this was a few months ago). :wtf:

probably depends on the pill you're taking?

it may also differ slightly from person to person.

in any case, if something's not going right while taking the pill and it's possible the alcohol could affect the pill ... my guess is that it's because of alcohol.

Probably also depends on how much and how often you drink.

whoever i was then i can't ever be again
the faith you've found i've never felt

the comfort in "there's no one else"

So I'm taking two kinds of drugs right now for my wisdom teeth.

The first says that taking it with alcohol will intensify the effect of the alcohol.

The other says that taking it with birth control will lower the effect of the birth control.

So if alcohol lowers the effect of the bc pill, I could get REALLY drunk and REALLY knocked up....REALLY easy.

See, I get that it's a symbol of femininity or whatever ... but you don't see men going around making sculptures out of used condoms ... at least I hope not.

Feel free to GIS that, Jen. :P

I've learned that there is someone out there who has done anything you can think of. Google it, and you'll find it.

A friend once sent me pics of "art" from a guy who fingerpaints with... well... anything that comes out of his body. :puke:

^ First time I've used that emoticon!

A girl I shared a hall with in college used to fingerpaint the bathroom for a week out of every month. We never figured out why, but it was disgusting. We tried to file complaints but no one could absolutely without doubt prove it was her without taking pictures of her doing it (which is illegal, since you can't have video cameras or cameras period in bathrooms around here without everyone's knowledge), so nothing was ever done. Blah.

In other news, I'm looking for a good low-hormone pill. What are you girls on, so I can do some research before I take myself to the dr next week?

And, I am supposed to get my period ... sometime in the next couple of weeks. I'll bet you $10 it doesn't come at all this month. Yep, the wonders of an irregular cycle.

I'm on Ortho-Tricyclen Lo, which is apparently a relatively new low hormone pill that's (according to my gynecologist) just as effective as the others.

I used to be on OTC - it gave me migraines. I wonder if the low hormone version would be any different.

You should probably ask your doctor. I'm someone who regularly gets migraines but I really haven't noticed any increase since I started the pill.

Yeah my last doctor wanted to put me on Depo-Provera, but I didn't want to risk my "fertility" (if I even have any at this point). So hopefully I can find a pill that will work for me with this new doctor. A lot has changed since the last time I was on BC.

i'm on, uhh...*has to get the box because she can't remember*...diane 35

i've been on it for probably more than a year now, and i like it. it's pretty low, it doesn't give me nausea like some of the others i've taken, and it doubles as acne treatment!

i'm on minovral, which i think actually improved my mood swings and such, and definitely improved my period, and doesn't make me sick. i think it might inexplicably be actually causing me slightly worse breakouts (mostly on my back) but it might not be that, or it may just not have settled down quite yet as i haven't been on it very long.

oh, and my pack definitely have stickers on them explicitly warning about alcohol.

2 things.... first of all, I don't drink

:P

Secondly, why would things change suddenly? I'm actually drinking much less than I drank in university!

Guess it requires a doctor's trip. I'm all messed up, and I can't trust that the pill is working which makes it useless. I don't have time to go to the doctor! argh!

And hey - didn't even notice it was you Robbo... I wasn't expecting a response from someone without a uterus
