My cat's been eating this plant in my living room that it turns out is highly poisonous to cats! It causes kidney failure and all sorts of problems. She seems okay, and we got rid of the plant yesterday, but I hope there's no long term damage that won't turn up til later. I feel so guilty

I hope she's alright. Don't feel guilty though, you didn't know that about the plant until after and you got rid of it when you found out, so don't feel guilty.
