I personally think that if they are going to legalize gay marriage then they ethically need to do polygamy too. I think polygamy is wrong, just like gay marriage, but if that's how it's gonna be, then that's how it's gonna have to be.
I agree with Taylor. It is very hard to love someone who hates you, but if you are going to get them accept you, you aren't gonna achieve it by hating them. Forgive thine enemy.

Polygamy is not generally socially acceptable.
That was even on Oprah.
Gay rights have been celebrated to the point in which they have their own parade.
There is a slight difference.

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

Exactly. I could never ever ever be friends with a homophobic person, I mean, they would be bashing my mother. I'm very loyal to my family, and even if she wasnt a lesbian, I still wouldnt be friends or even associate with a homophobe, because I wouldnt associate with a racist or a sexist person either. There is no difference in my mind.

How are they to change then? Did Martin Luther King fight againts racism by refusing to associate with those who hated him?
Secondly for those of you who think i'm arguing that polygamy will become legal because i'm againts gay marriage I'd like to make some things clear. I decided awile back that I'd be neither for or againts gay marriage. While many in my religion may be againts it, I believe that they often become far to wrapped up in it and forget about what it means to be a christian. They parade around with anti gay banners and forget about love. That is after all, what Jesus was all about.
"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

I'm not loving someone who thinks i'm an idiot. I'm sure they feel the same way. You're right, about Martin Luther King Jr, but no. Its too wrong to me, I feel sick, if someone says it. Its gross. I can be a hypocrite and in the wrong all I like, I dont care, But i'm not going to be friends with someone who is so misguided. Sure, i'll always have to associate with people who disagree with me, fine, but that certainly doesnt mean i'm going to bring them home to dinner and be friends with them.
To me, if you're racist, or sexist, homophobic or a bigot, there is something wrong with you. There is a difference in thinking homosexuality is wrong, and being homophobic, I do get that, and although I think its wrong to think its wrong, whatever, you can be told what to think by your religions all you want, it has nothing to do with me.

It could very easily be accepted in the West. And gay marriage is not socially acceptable, or else the United States wouldn't have voted for an ammendment to ban gay marriage. It's the loud minority, that doesn't mean that it's socially acceptable to many many people. Polygamous communities think they're right too, and have things that could be compared to parades.

socially excepted in many countries actually.
Besides, isn't 1 out of 10 people either bi-sexual or homosexual? That's a lot of people in America, when you compare it to other groups that we take seriously.

i honestly think that if most people knew a gay person closely it would be enough to change their mind, esspecially if it was a family member or friend that came out to them. When i was younger it used to be cool to make fun of gays, but as i grew up i realized it really wasn't, plus one of my friends came out about being a lesbian. It made me realy understand wher ethey're coming from a lot better, and i realy doubt that she, and every other gay on earth, is just lying about it.

yeah, I used to use the word "gay" as an insult when I was 12 and stuff. It took me a while to stop because I was so used to it, but obviously I couldn't continue saying it considering I made friends with a gay boy and my best friend started dating another girl. The funny part was that my friend dating a girl kept saying it by accident too. "that's gay... no it's not, I'm gay, that's an insult to me!"
