Ok. I was just checking.

I suppose it's sort of like gay Mormons. They're a bit like oxy morons. Ah well.

So my homophobic friend works with a gay boss now. He's completely changed now and supports gays. Just goes to show that most people that hate gays don't actually know any.

Isn't NOT being friends with someone because they are a homophobe as bad as not being friend with someone because they are homosexual?

well not quite

Homophobia is a discrimnation such as racism, homosexualism is something that has to do with teh genetic make up of someones brain.

And as to why i was friends with a homophobe, we are childhood friends, and believe it or not he's a good guy. He wasn't some sort of psycho, homo-bashing in public guy. He just really didn't understand them and thought it was a choice thing, and made fun of them and said a bunch of macho guy stuff about them to look cool.

now he's like homosexual rights activist or something, he hangs out with his boss now, and is going to a homosexual wedding social.

So, would you call someone who doesn't believe that being gay is right a homophobe? Someone like...me? 'Cause that is how I feel. And yes, I do actually KNOW someone personally who is gay.

homophobe by definition is someone who's afraid of homosexuals and homosexuality. see, cuz, "phobia"? yeah.

dunno if anybody here reads or watches the news, but apparently there's a whole bunch of noise being made about the legislation to legalize same-sex marriages in canada. some people are afraid that if the legislation for same-sex marriage is passed, then others will want a legislation on legalizing polygamy too. and i think some people agree that that should happen.

opinions?

Its interesting that you brought that up. I see all these groups who are for gay marriage and equality and yet when they face any opposition to their views they put them down and insult them. You'll see gay rights activists champion that love is love and that we all should be accepting and yet they do not love the homophobes. You cannot change someones heart by holding up a sign that discriminates againts againts gays, nor can activists expect homophobes to change their views if they dont show them the same respect.

That is like arguing that it is just as bad to not want to associate with a racist as a black person. One is a discriminatory value judgement, one is an incompatiablity of beliefs.

I'm not arguing that. Her suggestion of that just reminded me of some thoughts I was having. I'm simply saying that if everyone for gay rights wants the homophobes to respect and love the gays, they must respect and love the homophobes.
