anyone know anything about quadratic functions/word problems?
here's the problem:
Landscaping: A rectangular lawn measuring 8m by 4m is surrounded by a flower bed of uniform width. The combined area of the lawn and the flower bed is 165m². What is the width of the flower bed?

hmm. you have to set it up with brackets etc. goddamn, i'm terrible at math. it's a relatively simple problem, i just can't figure out the layout. x's and stuff. :mad:

any help would be greatly appreciated.
