For xchrisx:

If preserving life is what's important, why do you believe that we should all be able to snort crack and shoot up heroin?? Don't those take life or end up promoting acts against preserving life?? I tend to agree with our laws more than your reasoning. Plus I am an elitist so I strive for something better (for me)...........now its time to sit on my throne.....

Narbus geez......life is much more important than death..........err......I feel like saying life is death, or death is life........but then people might just think I am trying to be some philosophizing mystery man with no real insight. They would be correct............

Narbus, can you explain your views about life and death.........I'm just curious.

well.
for over a half hour, i have been going through this thread, thoroughly reading some posts, and just skimming others. i find it very interesting...
im only going to comment on one thing in this discussion though, because i dont want to get into a big debate:

ummmm.....not feeding your infant son until it dies...........there. that took 2 seconds.

i just think that doing nothing is, in fact, doing something... you are doing nothing. nothing is something.

whoa, okay, if that made sense to anyone else i'd be surprised.

ANYWAYS!

about CHristina Aguilera. I have her CD, "Stripped". I really like it. All the songs on the CD aren't about getting 'Dirrty' and showing off. It's actually a really personal album. i love it.

Because part of lving is preserving the right to choose. I don't think Chris is saying we SHOULD all snort crack etc, but that we all have the RIGHT to choose to do it, as a part of having personal freedom.
When God said "I AM," the Jews should have said "You are WHAT?" If he really was God, he'd have better grammar than that!

I can see that, regarding personal freedoms. Drugs are a choice. Personally I see them as being harmful and addictive......and my opinion of drug addicts is not very kind............but hey, who am I to say. I like the laws we have in place in this instance though. I'm sure a lot of people aren't fussing over having to not get that herion addiction. Anyways......explanations are always good........

Are personal freedoms above that of society?? What about owning guns and carrying guns? How do you guys feel about that?

I heard Stripped is getting good reviews............and that's wonderful. Our point was that she uses exploitive ways that degrade her to get attention............I wonder why her clothes always have to be a bare minimum. I mean if you are good looking, why not let the music speak for itself instead of becoming a dirty stripper.........it kind turns me off from her. That any good messages are tainted by that slutty image. She looks kind of pretty until she starts writhing in orgasmic ecstasy........

Regarding Beautiful.............there is something studio about it...........something fake. Its well done, but for some reason it irritates me. my personal reaction. If anyone can recommend some other songs I will download them.

I hate the video. Here's the plot...

Christina sits in a chair singing. A bunch of "controversial" scenes flash by, so as to get some attention. Christina gets out of the chair and looks in the mirror (a real stretch of her acting talents, I'm sure) and the video ends.

And though the hum and sway gets me down
, I'll find the way to peace and openness.

you want songs by christina aguilera?
i'm not sure which ones you would like, or not consider "fake" or whatnot... but my personal favorite is "cruz". i also like "fighter" and "walk away".

in "im ok" she talks about her dad abusing her and her mother, and you can tell shes almost crying while she's singing it...

so yeah, those are some good songs by her.

as for using her body and no clothes to be noticed... everyone has a sexual side. they dont want to just sit there being a perfect virgin.. i think christina just wanted to get it out and be herself. if she has it, then all the power to her. in my opinion, if you don't like it, then, well, don't watch it, and don't put her down for doing what she wants and loves.

showing people in "controversial" scenes seems like an overused idea.

The video is just very "in your face" with some of the imagery. It is a generic music video afterall........no room for anything subtle or smart.

I'm sure Christina will get over my "tirade". I agree that it may be unfair in a sense. i don't know her at all. But her image in the media is somewhat raunchy. I'm sure it means nothing since she probably sleeps in beds made of money and blanketed with men. haha, that would be funny.............a perfect hip hop video. Oh that was a joke by the way. Seriously, I think she is alright..........I mean I have nothing against her personally.........but professionally I think she is just like every other one who plays that angle and frankly I'm tired of people buying it. I would love a video of someone being themselves, not just acting like they are........its just ironic. Anyways, I'm sure I won't like her music, but I should give her a chance to see if there is a glimmer of something human or unique in her music. Thanks.

The video was about how we're all beautiful .. each and everyone of us .. the only thing I didn't like about the video was how fake Christina looked .. she looked orange like a really bad fake tan went wrong .. but I liked the message the video had.

my girlfriend has the album. i've heard the whole thing probably 40 times and i can safely say it's more of the same, safe, cliche, boring pop garbage that you'd expect from aguilera.

she's not interested on this album, it seems, in even writing catchy pop songs [ she did write some/most of the album ]. most of the album is just her trying to get her new "x-tina" image across.
