It's still available in the US. I kinda want these down. The album is worth buying, and if someone wants to illegally download it, it shouldn't be as easy as a YouTube search.

interesting, i've never heard of this "koch entertainment" until now.... i guess each distributor in each country is responsible for blocking the music on youtube.

sony appears to be much less fussy about removing music, all the OLP songs from the sony years (1994-2005) available on youtube from a bunch of different individual users.

Hello, I'm a newbie...my first post. I have been a passing fan of OLP for years. Living in a suburban community outside of Detroit, I have heard the band's songs broadcast from Windsor, Ontario radio stations from across the Detroit River. I have always enjoyed the music, but I never purchased any CDs.

I have seen OLP in concert twice. At the Filmore in Detroit (Clumsy show) and at Rock the Park in London, Ontario. Both in 2011. I am very excited to see the band this Saturday at St. Andrew's Hall, which holds 1000 fans.

I purchased Clumsy so I would know the songs played at my 1st OLP concert. The CD really grew on me, but I wasn't totally sold until I saw the the guys play in concert. They really blew me away with their musicianship and energy! Raine is a great performer and front man. His songwriting is very meaningful.

After that 1st show I purchased A Decade and Burn, Burn. I am just beginning to explore the band's full catalogue. Living in the U.S., I didn't want to wait two more weeks to hear the new CD Curve with the Detroit show just around the corner. I crossed the Ambassador Bridge into Canada today to buy the CD on its release date. I love the new CD and I anxiously wait for Saturday's concert!

I am hooked and I'm starting to become a big OLP fan! :D

So I am pissed right off!!!! No pre-ordered curve in the mail today. I ordered it through ticketmaster with my urban grind tickets and I didnt get it. What is the point of pre-ordering it. I could have just gone and bought it today. That is the last time I pre-order anything. Seems like more people received their copy yesterday. WTF?

Yeah I only pre-order something if you get a bonus, or if there is a question of limited supply. I just walked into HMV at lunch today and picked it up.

Our Lady Peace’s 8th album, Curve, is an album fans have been eagerly awaiting. After early mentions by the band indicated Curve would be a different album for the band - one which would see them incorporating elements of their musical past in a way which is exciting for them as artists - many speculated whether it would be a return to sounds the band is known for from their early albums like Naveed or Clumsy.

When Heavyweight was released as the first single, it marked a return for Raine Maida’s falsetto, as well as an edgier guitar sound than their last couple of albums provided, however, it was obvious the album was going in a different direction altogether for the band.

Curve is, in fact, a satisfying artistic endeavour for both the band (as they’ve stated many times) and the listener (as I’m stating, right now, being a long time fan). I’d go as far as to say it’s the best album they’ve released since Spiritual Machines. Like that album, Curve explores some new territory and feels a lot more atmospheric in scope; it’s quiet when it needs to be quiet and loud when it needs to be loud. Each musician get s a chance to showcase his skills, and it does feel like an album that sounds the way it does because the band wanted it to, not because they wanted others to like it. That said, I think others are gonna like it.

Curve is best as a full-album listen. It doesn’t have the hooks and singles of past albums, per say, but it’s cohesive in its layout; each song feels like a natural progression from the previous. There are certainly some stand out songs, and standout moments within them. Find Our Way slowly builds into a guitar-solo crescendo which perfectly demonstrates Steve Mazur’s talents. If This Is It might just be the best song on the album, and Fire In The Hen House has such a killer bass riff, I dare you not to have it stuck in your head.

ok here is what happened. If you ordered directly from OLP's website you got the cd in mail yesterday or today ( USA/CANADA)

If ordered through TM is should be at venue.. They did that with Burn Burn. It cost me $10 more on the ticket and when I got to venue handed in the ticket showing I paid extra and got it then. That is the only reason I can think of why you did not get it.

shocked I got it before release. Everytime I pre-order anything( usually books though. SOmetimes CD's) I never get them till after offical release. Do not know why cause what is the purpose of doing that. Last year I pre-ordered Charlaine Harris book ( who the show True Blood is based on). She did a book signing day of release. Even though I pre-ordered through the same company had to buy book cause that was the only way to get into signing. When I got book in mail I brought it back for refund. What a pain that was.

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again

Maybe the Ticketmaster preorders maybe were shipping on the 3rd, whereas the other ones were apparently shipped to arrive on the 3rd? I'm not sure, didn't look into either option too much... I just remember reading the details of one of the preorders said it would ship on/after the 3rd

I don't think this is being handled the same way as the Burn Burn Ticketmaster deal.

They've got the #4 album on iTunes, and the #1 rock album. And this is all without really being plugged by iTunes, like for example, the #3 rock album from Shinedown (they were #1 last night).

So mad I didn't pre-order through the OLP site, as I assumed it'd only show up on the 17th. Nikki's birthday is on the 9th and I would've liked her to have a copy on the date, but thankfully she's lax about getting things on the exact day. I didn't order through the OLP site as, if buying from the Canadian store, it would've been 23 dollars or so, which is a shit ton to pay for a CD. Got it elsewhere online for 10 bucks, no shipping, but would've gladly paid a few dollars more through the American OLP store if it meant getting it on the 3rd or prior.

That was a mess of a paragraph/sentence. sryz broz imo.

I forgot album isn't even available yet in the US.
Those numbers are great and kind of expected from a band that was as big as OLP in Canada

A few things about pre-ordering and some comments on the CD itself:

Bands love having pre-orders because it plays on people's "I want it now" desires. The excitement of announcing a pre-order makes people feel like they're buying the album early, even though it's only an early commitment to plop down your money for the album. Still, it encourages impulse buys and guarantees sales for the band so, while senseless from the consumer's perspective, I imagine it's very advantageous on the business-side of things for the band. Obviously it makes more sense for fans though if something extra is included.

My big complaint with pre-ordering, or this one in particular anyway, wasn't the CD's arrival though. Placing an order for the autographed copy with Rhino, I got it on time yesterday. What didn't make sense to me however was the digital copy of the album. If you're shipping the CD to arrive on the release date, including a digital copy is f'n pointless if it doesn't arrive in your inbox until 7 p.m. the same day. I got the physical CD in the mail by noon, ripped it to wav files and copied them to my iPhone so I could play it on my speaker. I'd already listened to the album several times and several hours before receiving lower quality mp3s of it via e-mail... rendering the digital copy pointless. When I can create a copy of my own and listen to the CD myself several hours before, it's a really stupid "bonus." Digital copies should've gone out automatically at 12 a.m. or between then and 9 a.m. -- any time before it could arrive in the mail anyway.

As for the CD...

The album sounds soooo much better at CD quality, I cannot state this enough. The dynamics in the songs are obviously so much better and, as others have pointed out, there are so many subtle touches that you just can't hear in the web stream . Fire In The Henhouse sounds even better... so does Allowance and, well pretty much every song on the record.

Two small things that I didn't notice before and love: That short little falsetto in Windowseat after the choruses and the pre-choruses on Rabbits. The latter really reminds me of Happiness... era OLP with the production that was used.

And If This Is It... wow, just epic. I dunno, it's quickly becoming one of my favourite OLP songs ever.

It's hard to rank this album compared to OLP's others since it's so new and more prone to over-praise because of the excitement. It'll take a few weeks to get some perspective on it but it's their best record in over a decade, I know that for certain. What I'm trying to decide is if I like it better than Naveed and/or Clumsy (two albums that haven't aged as well as Happiness... and Spiritual Machines, imo.)

And I dunno about a lack of singles like one of those reviews said. When I listen to it, I can easily hear Fire And The Henhouse and If This Is It being successful as third and/or fourth singles... I even think that If This Is It could be a monster hit -- neither one sounds forced either.
