Well, I was joking, but it's a little bit true. It's not uncommon to hear people calling eachother tendwhores, or teasing someone because they're "trendy"

Emo isnt a trend. However labelling bands "emo" is. What is emo? Emotional punk or hardcore? Isnt most music emotional. Most bands that are labelled emo these days are simply the rock bands of today, nothing more. They wont disapear either. The term emo might but they and the music they play will not.

ummm...i'm not sure if you've noticed but a lot of bands change their sound to fit what's popular at the moment (example, sum 41, who now scream in their songs when they never did before). so i have a feeling the popular "emo" bands of today might disappear, or at least change their sounds for the next popular trend.
