But still, you would think that your body wouldnt let you. You'd pass out from pain...at least I would hope so. :\

I actually do want to see this movie, the problem is finding someone who actually wants to see it, *sigh* my friends are all poor, chicken, or just don't have the time.

That's technically insanity too forced by desperation. Once you've been sitting there for days and days and you have no other choice your psyche will allow you to go to extremes.

 I read about that in Outside Magazine. A boulder fell on his arm and crushed it. The nerves in his arm were probably shot because, well, it was smashed under a gigantic rock. That probably helped a bit.

I though he tied something around his arm too so that there would be less circulation and his arm would go numb.

Naw, his arm was allready numb because he spent like 3 days stuck under the rock chipping away at the boulder w/ his knife.

Then he realized that wasn't going to work so he snapped the bones in his arms and sawed away at it w/ the dull knife.

That reminds of some article I read. A farmer got his hand trapped in a tractor while he was fixing it alone in the field. He figured that his farm aid would come the next morning, find him and everything would be fine. Unfortunatley there was bad weather the next day, and during that kind of weather the aid had been instructed to not come in. Then the aid was supposed to have the next few days off, so this poor farmer was stuck there for days. Of course since he was trapped and lived alone and would die of dehydration/hunger/heat in the day/cold of the night (but his dog stayed with him the whole time). Anyway he used his pocket knife to saw off his thumb and index finger so he could pull the rest of his arm free. Since his arm was trapped it didn't bleed too much, and after hours of sawing at his fingers and blacking out because of the pain, he was freed.

He did, but it wasn't to make his arm numb, it was so when he cut through his arm, he wouldn't bleed to death.
