who really cares? most of the kids that do that are young and still struggling to find out who they are .. let them dress how they want to dress and worry about yourself. what's pathetic is turning the way a kid dresses into such a big deal. so they're looking up to a band you don't like and wanting to dress like them .. in the end does it really matter just because you don't like the band of their choice? people are so judgemental over the stupidest shit.

The fact is that most ppl grow out of these type of bands. The music is obviously geared towards a certain cohort of kids. Think about the music you liked when you were 13 or 14 and I'm willing to bet you liked some bands that you wouldn't touch with a ten foot poll now. This whole pop-punk thing is just a fad much like the rise of the boy-band in the late nineties and the female soloists. They'll go away eventually and something else will replace them. In the mean time let them dress cool and enjoy themselves. They'll grow out of it eventually.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

I'd touch bands I liked at thirteen with a ten foot pole! ...but then again, that was six months ago. I can't really look at this topic with a "they're only young" point of view, seeing as how they're my age.

another thing that pisses me off is how all their fans going around saying how punk they are and go around wearing ramones and sex pistols shirts when 90% of them don't even know who the ramones or sex pistols are. also, its not punk to say that ur punk beacuse that is what punk was aainst in the first place.

punk is against saying that your punk? So, if you're punk, and you say it, are you not punk anymore?

you can't say that MOST of these kids haven't gone through shit in their lives .. because you have no idea .. so assuming you know anything about what's going on in another persons life is pretty stupid. what you see on the outside, doesn't give you any clue to what that person is feeling on the inside.

True, but not everyone goes through the same shit and how people deal with it is their own business .. if dressing like that and looking up to certain bands because they feel they can relate to the lyrics and what the band members have gone through then who are you or anybody else to criticize them? Everyone is always judging everybody else based on stupid shit like the way a person wears their hair or how baggy their pants are. Nobody is better then anyone else .. just because you feel your music is far more superior doesn't give you the right to look down on others over their clothing choice. I can't believe this discussion has gone on as long as it has because it's so ridiculous. It's not the bands or the kids who keep attaching these labels to everything .. it's the people who think they're so much better that keep causing shit.

Everybody thinks they're better than someone else. It's human nature. And everyone is. Everyone being equal is a nice thought, but it's simply not true. And it's not a bad thing either. Say there's two friends, one of them is a really good musician and other isn't. Person A is better at it than Person B. Maybe person B is a really good hockey player, and Person A isn't. They're each better at something than the other. If everyone was equal, we wouldn't have any diversity. Everyone's better than someone at something, and that's ultimately what causes people to think they're better. Lies are born from the truth. But truth is never born from lies. It's never just as simple as 'everyone's equal'. No matter how nice that would be.

Here's a thought that I want to throw out:
If everyone's different, and in these difference we're equal. Then someone who's trying to be like someone else (an Avril fan dressing like Avril, for ex.), then logically, they're not different, meaning they are less (not equal).

you can't be better at liking music or dressing how you like than someone else.
you have to, you just have to trust me
whoever i was then i can't ever be again
the faith you've found i've never felt
the terror held in wedding bells
the comfort in "there's no one else"
the truth be told, i'm never going to know

I can't think of anything I'm exceptionally good at it. I once had a discussion over with my friends, they couldn't think of anything either. :uh:

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever

i agree with you in a way, people that judge people on the way they dress, or the music they listen to is dumb. But what also bugs me is people that think they're so much more unique, rebellious, or dark then everyone because they wear black and make-up. News flash to be unique means doing whatever you want not dresssing up like people. And i'm sorry but teen girls dressed like Punk/Goth is annoying if it's obvious they're not. I have no beef with people that just break the caste and dress however, i've defended them to my closed minded friends several times. But when it's some dumb bitch who things she's being a rebel, it pisses me off. And like Jim said half of them don't really give a shit about The Romones or Sex Pistols. I'm a hell of a lot more individual and unique then most of those dumb ass mother fuckers and most people would have no idea unless they knew me. If your trying to prove something your a sad sad person, because beinga rebel means not having to prove it to people.

Also like was said before most people will, or have gone through some really really tough shit, the thing is that's life.

The fact still stands that GC's Vid, steals a lot from Soundgarden's and SG was a hell of a lot more original and deep then GC could EVER be.

And i'm sorry but most of those people ARE teens struggling to find out who they are in all the wrong ways, they deserve our pity not our respect

I just saw the video.. and I don't really think that there's that much of a difference between the chorus and the verses. The screaming in the phone booth does sound pretty dumb though.
..And I still don't know what super colours are.

And as for the dressing 'punk', the way I see it, a lot of people just like the way it looks, and aren't trying to specifically be anything. Some people are looking up to their favorite bands. And some people, when they wake up in the morning, and they aren't feeling great, don't exactly want to dress in bright yellow. Quite a lot of my friends dress in black and goth and stuff, and I'm quite sure they understand that it doesn't make them particularly unique.

You're more unique then them, but most people would have no idea unless they knew you well. Do you know these people well? How do you know that they aren't unique in other ways?

the video has nothing to do with soundgarden .. i explained the idea behind the video earlier .. and there are annoyances in life .. if you don't like the way other people dress, get over it and move on and worry about yourself. people don't have to change their clothes to get your approval.

your issue seems to be in defense of your own style .. and that's what is sad .. not the way the other kids dress .. and pity for the kids who do dress like that? i feel pity for the ignorant people who make fun of the kids who dress like that, not the kids themselves. if it makes you feel superior to pick on a kids clothing choice and to call them names because you think you're more unique, then you're the sad one that needs our pity. what it comes down to is .. you're judging someone based on their 'look' when you have no idea who that person is. but of course, if we knew you well, we'd know you're so much more unique .. yet, you're putting down others you've never met and don't know well?

what's sad is how so many people look down on others based on image .. i mean come on, that's something you're taught to look past in kindergarten. you think you know so much about a person because of the way they wear their hair or because they're wearing black nail polish?
