First: What is the new album called? I am in the university bubble and TOTALLY out of the loop.
Second: Was I the only fucking person on earth that bought (or even HEARD of) Shenanigans?

Nope! Great album. Some of my favorite Green Day songs are on it, actually.

I was really disappointed with it. Not solid at all. Although, "Ha Ha You're Dead" continues to amuse me ceaselessly

Go with Nimrod as an introduction. It's the catchiest (besides warning, which is oddly pop for them).

sounds like a good list; I would recommend some, but I don't even own all their CDs.

Actually, I'd recommend American Idiot right off the bat- then dookie- then Nimrod.
I really like American Idiot- it's pretty solid.
