Moore's hit wasn't clean....
He stuck his elbow out...........its pretty simple.........you can't do that. He could have annhilated Naslund with that check........but by putting his arm out, he broke the rules and caused a very dangerous situation. Why he was not addressed by the league for his thug tactic was beyond me.
Anyways, Bertuzzi got he deserved (to a degree) Hopefully this will act as a wake up call to the league.

I dont' think it was clean because Naslund was going for the puck, very obviously, he was trying to poke-check it away from Moore. Moore was NOT in any way shape or form concerned about the puck. He had his eye on Markus the entire time. The puck was practically in his skates, but he was looking to cream Naslund. His elbow just happened to make contact with his head, and the fact that he stuck it out gave him a concussion.
I'm in a way glad that Bertuzzi is sitting out for the rest of the year and possibly some of next year, but my favorite team is the Canucks and I can't imagine them making half as long of a run without him. It's sad that he couldnt' control his emotions like he should have. I really don't think he realizes how strong he is sometimes.

the moore hit on naslund was completely clean, even most of the vancouver canucks said that there was no penalty to be called. The only reason some people got bent out of shape over it was that they felt that moore was targetting naslund while he was in a vulnerable position and because he is vancouver's star player, but the hit itself was completely within the rules.
Further to the severity of Bertuzzi's suspention, I'm also glad to hear that the NHL fined the cannucks' organization. However, I would have liked to have seen this fine take place before the the second nucs, avs game happened. If the NHL had put this fine into effect before the game, and made it crystal clear that making statements about putting "bounties" on players heads are completely innapropriate, then perhaps this incident would not have occured in the first place.
Also, with regard to the criminal investigation of assault, a lot of people have been comparing this incident to the mcsorley-brashear incident, where mcsorley hit brashear on the head with his stick. A lot of people have argued that the bertuzzi-moore incident was less serious because bertuzzi just punched moore. However, in the mcsorley incident there was an issue of intention. Mcsorley always said (and i tended to believe him) that though he meant to slash brashear, he meant to slash him on the shoulder, not on the head. However, in the bertuzzi incident, there's no way that you can argue that he didn't intent to hit moore in the head. To me, this makes the bertuzzi incident far more severe, and makes criminal charges more likely.

I need to see that hit again.......from what I saw I thought his elbow hit Naslund's head as outstretched it a bit when he swerved. If it was his shoulder than fine.......its clean.......but if his elbow hit, no matter his intentions, would be elbowing and a suspension because of the injury caused. THe NHL didn't see it that way however............so I guess I could be wrong.

Naslund was in a vulnerable position. He was reaching for the puck and dropped his head and Moore hit him with his shoulder (from what i could tell..). It looked like Moore pulled up his shoulder right when Naslund was stretching and nailed him. Combination of a player in a vulnerable position and a player following through on a hit. Regardless, Naslund himself had claimed that Moore's hit was clean.
It seemed like the Canucks were just ticked off that it was targetted at their star player (and rightully so). That being said, Bertuzzi went way too far..
Bertuzzi made a mistake he's sorry for what he did. But unfortunately for himself and the Canucks, he's got to be punished for what he did.
as has been noted many times, nazzy himself said the hit was clean and i do believe he even went as far as to say "he should be more careful and not reach for the puck in that manner" (while skating up the ice, at centre ice)
he also went on to say that the NHL is lacking in respect amongst players for each other and other stuff but maintained that the moore hit was clean

The major media outlets have been spreading a lot of disinformation about this incident to the general public. The story truly has taken on a life of its own. At a time when the NHL is in shambles as a result of mismanagement, this incident has given the league an excuse to whitewash all of its systemic shortcomings. They are making an example of Todd Bertuzzi to cover up the poor management of Gary Bettman and the cadre of owners in whose pocket Bettman resides,” noted rally representative Sean Karl.

TORONTO (CP) - Todd Bertuzzi wants a meeting with Steve Moore.
Bertuzzi, the Vancouver Canucks forward who was suspended by the NHL for the rest of the season and perhaps longer for attacking the Colorado rookie, hopes to get an audience with Moore, according to Bertuzzi's agent.
``I made an attempt and called Steve's agent to try and get an agenda of what will happen to Steve in the near future so he and Todd can get together if that's what Steve wants, given that Todd certainly wants to make contact with him to deliver a personal address,'' Pat Morris told The FAN 590, an all-sports Toronto radio station, Friday.

Moore suffered fractures in two vertebrae and a concussion when Bertuzzi sucker-punched the Avalanche forward and piled on top of him as Moore fell face-first on the ice at GM Place Monday.
Morris said Bertuzzi wanted to speak to Moore while he was in Vancouver hospital following the incident.
``We had tried to get in touch with Steve, but he was effectively a non-access patient at the hospital where you needed written permission from the parents to either see him or speak to him, so it was difficult to get in touch,'' Morris said.
``I tried through the Avalanche on behalf of Todd to get a telephone number and some access to Steve, but understandably, was not able not able to do so.''
