I've heard new rumors about the specs on the upcoming Xbox release.......Sony is not going to be able to keep up, sadly enough. Nintendo is already up the tailpipe, and that used to be my favorite console.
OOOh yeah, best games of '03, right:
Max Payne 2
ESPN Football
Top Spin

Nintendo up the tail pipe? Sony wont be able to keep up? Umm according to gamespot all three systems will be using new IBM chip technology which suggests they will be equal in power. According to gamespot:
"IBM unveiled its Blue Gene/L machine, a new supercomputer that packs 2 teraflops (2 trillion mathematical operations per second) of processing power in to 1 meter by 1 meter box. To get a sense of scale, the world's most powerful supercomputer, Japan's Earth Simulator, has a speed of 35.6 teraflops.
The Blue Gene processors in the L machine are considerably cheaper because they're based on existing PowerPC technology, which IBM co-developed with Apple. The latest PowerPC currently powers the Apple G5, and a modified version is likely to be at the heart of Microsoft's next Xbox. IBM has also partnered with Sony to develop the advanced "Cell" multiprocessor, which will likely be used in the PlayStation 3. The chip-maker is also continuing its long-running partnership with Nintendo by developing the CPU for the GameCube's successor. "
The moral of the story is: Dont assume that X-box has the upper hand in anything.

I used to be a hard core nintendo loyalist, but they made a massive mistake in catering mostlyto the younger audiences that can't afford to buy game anyways. I believe Nintendo has the largest sence of morals and quality, but they doomed them selves by releasing to few older age games. Not to mention they scred up royally by not offering a dvd player

They never offered a dvd player because Nintendo opted to use their own disk format. The cube may not be a dvd player but no ones copying their games either. Nintendo will never be a company that follows the trends and releases the latest grand theft auto just to make a buck. Besides Nintendo can pretty much survive on their Game Boy Advance alone. Most people fail to realize that it is infact the best selling system out there by a long shot.
My 2 cents.

Personally I think that Nintendo might be merging with XBox or something crazy like that. They almost have the same hardware for their next generation system and Nintendo has some announcement they're going to make... Even if they don't merge Nintendo MIGHT have a better chance than even Sony with their next system.
As for Sony, I'm really disappointed about their next release. I found out that their next system won't be able to able to play mp3s, DVD-R/RWs (probably +Rs too) and won't even be able to play CD-R music. Even the current Sony PS2 can do that!!!!
It'll still have the 250 Gb HD and and a different model with like 160 Gb or something similar. It might also use a different processer than the Nintendo and XBox consoles. Although Rumored to be going with IBM too like Joe Cool said, they didn't lock any deals with the company, so they might have other companies they're planning to work with considering how XBox and Nintendo are already using IBM.
I guess we'll see!

Nintendo seems to have something up their sleeve it seems. Apparently they will show off their new piece of hardware at the next E3 BUT they also stated that it shouldnt be considered a console. What does this mean fellow gamers? We can only speculate
Oh and i agree with Lando that Nintendo has a much better chance this time around in the console wars.
Lastly my real name is Taylor for all who care. Being quoted as Joe Cool is kinda weird.
Cheers

I got a GBA-SP earlier this week with Sword of Mana. Both are great and are serving me well as we speak. They haven't lost the battle yet, although PS2 is still the most popular console.

actually if i remember correctly ( i used to be a nintendo power subscriber years ago) x-box and cube were orginally the same system. Nintendo was sposed to be working together with Microsoft on a system that sued a hard drive. the deal must have feel through though because they split up up in the end. It was code named "Daulphin".
oh and i agree no one even tries to compete with game boy anymore

I remember nintendo Dolphin from a long, long time ago.
I still think the PC is the most flexible gaming system out there.

oh my.
I just played Harry Potter Quidditch on the cube (shuddup, I'm a Draco lover) and I am actually really surprised. Its surprisingly good. Slightly complicated since its not like I've ever played a game of Quiddich but it isnt very difficult to learn. Some of the graphics are really well done too.
It obviously doen't compare to some games like FF or whatever but its exellent to pick up and play at anytime.
In other news, my playstation is busted and I don't know why. I think its just cause its old and I haven't had time to fiddle with it and check. but I loved that playstation gosh darnit.

Hehe, my NES is still alive and kicking. I swear those things were built like a tank. You may have to kick it a few times to get them going but they worked.

that's got to be one of the highest quality games ever, back in those days they didn't have as much to work with so they had to make really really good quailty games
