no, i dont agree with that. smoking weed doesnt hurt anyone. what they do on thier own doesnt affect you.

My point is that I can have an opinion on it without doing it. I have objections to doing it. Just because I haven't done it doesn't mean I can't have said objections.

I agree with Rob, I'm in the same position.
But Yannic, if its someone you really respect and acre about, you can't help but feel affected.

That's the truth. Weed broke my friends family up, and now that his girlfriend is doing it a lot, it's fucking up their relationship as well. Weed definitely affects people in ways that all the pro- and anti-marijuana pamphlets you people are quoting don't mention. Saying otherwise just shows that you're blind.

Why are these people letting weed take over their life? If weed is the one and only thing that is breaking up all these relationships that's kinda sad. If you smoke weed 24-7 then yeah, it will start to ruin your life ... being a social smoker and smoking at the odd party or on the weekends is completely harmless.

I'd like to point out that I wasn't talking about the affect on other people with my rape referance. Just that I can have an opinion without "experiencing" it.

Well, it started as a weekend thing, and progressed to everyday. Now she does it everyday. And it broke up his parents because his dad smoked every so often and acted like a completely different person when he did.

Well .. I wouldn't blame the weed .. I'd blame the people for letting that happen. Weed isn't an addicting drug .. it's all a mind thing. People think they need it and start to rely on it .. I watch my friend who feels the need to smoke it everyday and will actually start to shake by the end of the day .. it's all in his head, even he admits that .. it's to the point now where he feels the need to "escape" for a bit so he's grown to rely on it. If you let that happen, that's their own fault.

No prob.
I should have used a better example, but that was just the first thing that came to mind.

cor3y wrote:I never tried it, but I absolutely hate when people do. I just lose respect for them because of it. I didn't notice this before, Corey. You sound exactly like me. It can be hard sometimes as a teenager, though. Or, at least it used to be.

It is, it confuses me. And it's not just the person, it's the drug. I don't care how many people say it's not addictive... if you crave the feeling, you crave the drug and develope and addiction. Just because it may not have addictive chemicals doesn't mean it isn't addictive.
Posted: 8/10/2003, 7:29 pm
by Axtech
Exactly. People have addictions to a lot of things that don't have chemicals. Like food.

It's all in the mindddddddd ... you play headgames with yourself that's all ... I'm not addicted ...
Edit: You become addicted when you start misusing it .. for example with food .. when someone becomes addicted to food they're obviously using it to hide a bigger problem .. maybe they're stressed etc so they turn to food. So that can happen with weed .. it may be part of the problem because of the person, but it's the problem all by itself.

Ahuh. It's funny how all users say the same thing =P Anyway, it's simply not good. Even if it's just used as a temporary escape every so often, it's not a beneficial one no matter how much you think and want it to be. When I need an escape, I work out. There are plenty of "escapes" out there that don't hurt your body at all, and are even constructive. But hey, it's not my body or my life, so smoke on!

Not everyone uses weed as an escape ... it's fun

what would you classify as a "user" in this sense? someone who smokes up on a regular basis?

I don't mind when people smoke it every once in a while. Like drinking at a party. But doing it too much is not good. There's two ways to do it too much... 1. Doing it all the time. 2. Smoking way too much when you do it (ie, getting drunk at a party, even though that's the only time you drink).
But, just like alcohol, I don't do it at all. I just don't see any need for it. I'd rather have a good time with people using my own mind, not while intoxicated (getting high is getting intoxicated, just like getting drunk).

Yea, I'd say anyone who uses it on a regular basis. Basically, someone who is past the "experiementing" stage.

You sure know how to party
