He will be the downfall of OLP. As a fan of theirs since the begining I can really see them going downhill. Gravity was not a good effort.....ok.....but not good like Happiness, Clumsy, and Naveed. Our Time is Fading is not a good song at all....can't believe they put it on the Live CD. Not Afraid is good. I do like that one, and Talk is Cheap is somewhere in the middle IMO. Oh well I still have the old stuff, just wish they would produce more of it.

Rock is not going to cause OLP's demise........even though ya don't like his style he's producing bands that have been around forever and still going. I don't agree with you....hands down.

As much as Rock can increase their popularity, they could lose a lot of long time fans if their Rock continues to have a huge influence on their music.

Rock is satan. i think what Venom's trying to say is that he's the one to blame for the simplicity of OLP..which in some people's view is the "downfall"...he's not going to cause them to disappear from the media..quite the opposite actually.

To be honest, it kinda sucks to see everyone hear bashing olp's new style. It appears to me that some of you are not the dedicated fans you claim to be... I love each and every one of OLP's songs- old and new! I can't sit here and say that Innocent sucks because of the simplified lyrics- Innocent rocks! Not Afraid rocks! Under Zenith rocks! Car Crash rocks! It angers me to see fans start bashing their 'favourite' band because they want to start to experiment with new things, whether it be a new producer or new simplified lyrics. OLP rocks just as much as they do when they started, I don't care what any of you say! :D

Real OLP fans will see thru Bob Rock and realize that even with changes in music styles, you can still grow to love it.

Can't completely blame the producer either, and I know thats what many people like to do. The guy doesn't hold a gun to Raine's head and say "play this style or you'll vanish off the face of mainstream music forever" ya know?

I didn't like Gravity much...but I may have to give Rock a chance for their sixth album, I think he's hopefully giving the band more freedom because the new songs sound pretty good...but he has definitely had a huge impact on OLP, you can't argue that.

we can't completely blame Rock though.......yes he could say "want money, follow me". But before the actual production started, OLP probably could have said "ya know Rock, perhaps this just won't work".

Obviously, OLP liked what they saw otherwise they wouldn't be heading their candy asses back to Maui to work on #6. Metallica (PRE St. Anger) was actually decent. I was never a huge fan, but their fanbase is rediculously HUGE. Also with Aerosmith and I'm sure Rock has worked heavily with other bands as well.

You have the right to like and dislike whatever you please. You could be the biggest fan in the world, and considering OLP has come out with 53 studio tracks, a live cd, and countless amounts of covers and non-released material, there's a lot of songs that they have their name attached to, therefore you can still dislike a few songs out of the 80 or 90. It doesn't make you less of a fan than the next guy.

why?

he's been known to make radio-friendly albums and songs... radio-friendly = more money,

Raine a talented lyricist. If he was in the music business for money, he could wrote many a songs and sold them to a famous artist and get rich.

OR

OLP coulda wrote "mindless generic rock" that woulda to fit into main stream america today.
