how can you say that dashboard is not emo???? hes the most emotional singer out there, i admit hes good and i have many cds of him, but still you have to classify him in the emo category

What exactly is 'emo'? And what about Indie? I guess I'm not down with the times. List a few example bands that everyone can agree are 'emo'or 'indie'. Enlighten me.

i think "emo" is like "rock" or "pop"

there are many different kinds but they are all basically the same genre

i mean, creed is much different than OLP, but i guess they are both considered to be "rock"

what makes be emo and not dc?

now you're just being dumb. its like hey my favorite acoustic dealy band is emo but yours isn't.

and in reality, both of those bands are about as far from emo as you can get. but hey.

i guess you could say that emo is such a broad spectrum of music, but dc has got to fit into the emo category somewhere, the lyrics make him emo,

indie - yo la tengo, sonic youth, jim o rourke, the shins, spoon, the velvet underground etc.
emo - mineral, braid, elliott, cursive etc.

yannic - indie kids are pretensious. it's part of being indie. you line up and then compare scene points with the other indie kids. have you ever been inside an indie record store? the clerk eyes you and then your purchase snidely and thinks to himself "o please, 'start here' by the gloria record? he's probably one of those stupid dashboard kids who happened to stumble on mineral. sorry buddy, no blink 182 here. i'm still the coolest because i was the only person who bought that crazy smart alec album last month. and it was on vinyl." and then he walks over to the corner of the store to sip designer coffee and praise vinyl and whatever "crazy noise album" he just bought or talk about the latest copy of "magnet" with his buddy.

fuck. i hate those guys. just because i dress better then they do i can't get any service off of them.

Chris, why do you have the answer to everything? No one likes a person that knows everything.

it's lonely at the top, but i soldier on.

hey. we should start a lobby group against scenster jackasses. we could get the government to pass leglislation against long greasy hair, jawing about how great vinyl is, going on "sellout" witch hunts and pretending to actually like ugly casanova.

it would be rad.
