They could use how as many guitars as they want to make the song sound "fuller and richer"
For example- when OLP recorded 4am, they used 5 guitars, but it basically was arranged for two guitars, The Rythem Guitar and Lead. All their music is arranged for two-three guitars. Well their future music will be for two guitars now
Think about BBTS, recored live in one take, so I would assume that Raine, Jamie and Mike where all playing an instrument. Or it could just be Mike and Jamie playing it. or Mike, etc:
