Then how would you get rid of Saddam. He's a terror to his people and the rest of the world. Some of the Iraqi's view us as the lesser of two evils and some prefer Saddam. The guy has to go just as Hitler did. The problem in todays world is that countries are becoming to pacifist. All measures to ensure that the loss of life is minimal should be taken, but this is war. People die and that the way it has always been. Why is it different today. We gave diplomacy 12 years and got nowhere. The longer we wait the more dangerous he becomes. I honestly believe that we will not occupy Iraq any longer than is necessary to set up a decent government. What the US is doing will benefit the people of Iraq in the end. Obviously bombs hitting Baghdad right now doesn't look much better, but in the end it will be. If we go in there and make Iraq the 51st state I will be the first to say "ok I was wrong and our government has crossed the line", but thats not gonna happen.

I would think that if Bin Laden was alive, he'd take this opportunity to release another tape to the Arab world to rise up against Americans. Logically thinking, this would be great timing for him.

I don't think he trusts anyone outside of the few guys he may be traveling with enough to tape something. If he doesn't happen to have a camera he can't make a tape without bringing someone to him which could compromise his postion. I think he's being really careful and won't do anything that will get him captured or killed.

hollow minds wrote:the goddamn a-bomb counts, how can it not? your government KILLED millions of innocents with that weapon. to date it's still the worse WMD ever used.
THOUSANDS.....not millions. 50 large at one place, another 250,000 at the other.

the tape in which osama claims responsibility is of dubious origin and quality.
there have been some contradicting studies as to whether or not it is a fake.
don't forget about bin laden's audio tape, which the pentagon knew about before al jazeera did.

Yes if AMERICA colonizes Iraw I will say we have crossed the line. If however we do what we say (set up a fair and equal government) then I will continue to say we are doing the right and just thing byt saving the Iraqi people from Hitler Jr.

I don't think you can compare Saddam to Hitler.
Hitler tried to make the world one superior race, and rid the world of those who weren't perceived as the perfect German. Saddam isn't even close to this. He isn't placing millions of people within gas chambers, just because he dislikes their race. Sure he has used chemical weapons on his people but it is because they rebelled against him. Not because he hated them. I do not by any means agree with his use of chem weapons against his people but it isn't even close to comparable to what Hitler did.

No, he's not like Hitler. He models himself after Stalin.
