It all depends on the upbringing of a child sometimes to determine what religion they are. It sucks because most kids don't ever bother to look into other religions and find what they honestly believe in. They just follow their parents and think that they are ultimately right. Probably their parent's parents taught that religion to them, if you get what I'm saying Anyway, I was brought up to have no religion. I asked my parents if they believed in God well they said yes some sort of spiritual thing I guess that's what they meant. But, really, I ask my friends with religions that believe in God and I ask them how they could believe in something that has no real proof or whatever and they say faith. We were doing essays on serious issues like maybe 2 months ago and my friend was doing Capital Punishment and she was for it. I was like, why? She said in the bible there is a quote or something that says "an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth" which basically means if you kill, you deserve to be killed no matter what the circumstances truly are. but i asked her, isn't there a quote in the bible that goes "two wrongs don't make a right?" or is that just a quote that isn't in the bible? whatever the case, christians, roman catholics or any people who have extreme faith in a certain organized religion never really give a good explanation of their beliefs and it just ticks me off because i wasn't brought up going to church every sunday since i was a baby and i'm wondering if i'm missing out on some great thing.

i just don't like the idea of organized religion, as a whole.
i was forced to go to church a couple weeks ago, and the way they had everyone saying things in unison, it made them sound like zombies. they are like mindless drones who think going to church makes up for all the scamming, crimes, pain they may inflict upon others or anything "against the bible" that they happen to do.
i don't even know what to believe, but it sure as hell isn't that.

I have major problems with organized religion myself, and think that for the most part they're stupid institutions, but I've read a number of philosophical arguments for the existence of God, that really make logical sense to me. The blind faith thing is stupid, of course, but saying there's no proof is a moot point. There's no current verifiable proof the gravity is a real force, or that anything but myself exists.

I'm not trying to tear anyone down of course, I just think you have to learn as much from religions and philosophy as possible, and come to your own conclusion. The cosmological (aka ontological) argument for God was what really made me become a theist, I recommend checking that out, if only as food for thought

^ I agree with learning and coming to your own beliefs. Too many people just accept religions because they're afraid of the world and want to believe they have some sort of protection of higher purpose, or because they were raised into that faith and they don't know anything else.

organized religion is kinda wishywashy.

i believe in god though.

pretty sure it was Biblical as well.
