HMV is more expensive than other stores. I got my GYBE! cd for $32 at Sunrise, plus I got 15% off with my Sunrise card.

I might be wrong but, i think it's anywhere from 15-20 dollars US. Now if i was in the US buying it with Canadian money, and it was originally $32.00 i'd probably be spending anywhere from 45-50 bucks!!!

HMV are rip-offs. I only buy cd's from them when i'm desperate.

I'm finished my rant of the day.

I hate HMV. They are rip offs.
I live in NYC and we have something like 6 different Large chains to buy from

HMV, VIRGIN Megastore, TOWER Records, FYE, Coconuts, THe WIZ and now BEST BUY.

Hey I got Gravity, U2, Eminen, Default for something like $7.99 at BB. They have every week their $7.99 cds.

A few years ago Sting did a free show in Central Park to promote Best Buy. They were handing out $5.00 Gift Certificates. I didn't live near the BB they opened at the time so held on to the GC. When I bought Gravity it cost me $3.00 and I got an Aerosmith Cd that was going for $20 at other stores for about $9.00 yeah.,

That is what I meant be buying CD's on sale.

Best Buy eh? I don't think there are any Best Buy stores in Canada. I also might be wrong. I think there is a Tower Records in downtown Tor., so i'll check it out.

Thanks!

I love Best Buy! Their CD's are so much cheaper than anywhere else, and they have almost anything there. I got Gravity for $7.99 altho I don't know if BB had anything to do with it.

Yeah, I'm sad Harmony House is going out of business, because that's where I got all my OLP promo posters from, and they had a ticketmaster, which ruled because I don't have a credit card. :( - Megan

What OLP promo posters did you get from Harmony House?
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

I only have the Gravity ones from HH, the little one of the CD cover and the full-size two sided poster. When I went there and asked for them, the guy working there gave me about 5 of them, which was really cool of him, cuz he knew I was a big fan. I haven't seen any other OLP promo posters at the one I go to though. - Megan

if you are talking aobut the tower on Yonge street. it is no longer there. I don't knwo when it closed down. I was up there last October and it wwas closed. I only know of the two HMV's(queen street and Yonger street) and I guess you have Sam The Man stores. I am sure Best buy could mail you things. I don't know. They do have a website.

Yea, like Gail said. There used to be a tower records at the corner of young and queen, but it closed down and now there's a sport chek there. I remember it closed around october and my friend and i went and bought so many cds and posters cause everything was like a million percent off.

and, there is going to be a best buy in canada. There is one opening up in *shudder* Woodbridge, just outside of Toronto. I was actualy thinking of applying at best buy.

Ummm, Duncan rocks. Yeah, I made a post relevant to the topic. A first time for everything.

Shut it Prince Al! :D Just Kidding...
Duncan=GREAT.

Now, to ultraviolet, i think Sam the record man is closed. I also might be wrong again. And i had no idea that Tower records has closed either. Thanks!

And to supergirl/ the person who tries to eat newbies... thank you for the Best Buy info.

Sometimes you can get really good deals in used cd stores too. I picked up a used u2 cd at one for $6. @ HMV it would have been $25.99 witout tax. Ha! Take that HMV!

UltraViolet wrote:anyway since this is the DC thread I had to put this here. I was reading on R/S site and old interview with Duncan. They asked something like why would someone buy Clumsy over Spice world. he answered, but I thought this part of the answer was dead on. I know I bought some CD's adn you are like this is crap. I want my money back. That is why I wait for more then one song before I buy a cd now. Unless it is a favorite band, that is different.

Taken from Duncan interview in 1998.

I have no idea what Duncan is supposed to be saying, here, in this quote..

UltraViolet wrote:Because I'm in a band doesn't mean I get free CD's, I go buy CD's lots, and it frustrates me when a band has a good single, and I go get the album, and maybe one other song is good and the rest is filler. I don't know if that comes from lack of work ethic or what, but there's a lot of bands that if I ever meet, I'd like to ask them for 15 or 13 of my $17 back.

i think thats the actual quote

Yeah Sam the Record Man closed here too .. which sucks cuz I liked them and they were pretty cheap. We have a Sunrise though .. that's where I sometimes get my concert tickets ...

Duncan was just saying how he hates when you buy a cd and there's only like 1 or 2 good songs on it and the rest of the cd is crap .. so it's a waste of money and when he meets some of the those bands he wants to ask for his money back :P
