uhhh i have no idea which one to choose, i'm not christian if that's what you mean by "do you believe in god", but my religion couldn't possibly be categorized under muslim, buddhist, etc. or whatever. i'm religious in my own private and personal way. and it's not in any of those ways.

Oh oh sorry for the double post but I guess this would be appropriate for this topic. We were chatting in math class about how the universe is slowly expanding and contracting over milllions of years and this one girl was like, "but the universe isn't millions of years old!"

me: :wtf: ? Even the earth is millions of years old and the universe is much older than that.
her: i don't believe that at all. the earth can't be more than a couple thousand years old, maybe a little more
me: :wtf: :wtf: then what about 60 million year old dinosaurs and shit?
her: oh well carbon dating is VERY inaccurate
me: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: where are you getting this information from?
her: why, the bible of course
me: 8O

apparently, carbon dating is not very accurate, but an old book written by coked-up monks is MUCH more accurate :wtf:

there you have it. apparently blind faith makes you a moron.

Religion is too sensitive to be talked about here. Someone's going to end up seriously pissing off somebody else. I think the thread should be locked. :freak:
Some of you probably think I left. But was I ever here to start?

Nobody's perfect. Besides, one could almost compare it to being sad when you won't see someone for a while. Yes, it is rather selfish, but as humans we notoriously think of ourselves first.

the catholic church is the like any other statist institution. fuck it.

however, unlike many other people with the trendy "i am religous but i hate organized religion" view point, i am not particularily opposed to organized worship. however, i believe that our current instituions are abominations.

frankly, if we could keep church to being a place you go on sunday to pray with other people and sing boring songs, i'd be fine wit that. unfortunately, politics gets in the way of everything.

did you know that there were solider popes?

That's what's amusing (to me) about christianity.

They used to slaughter people for not believing.

And now, they deny the thousands of people they killed...

Submission is how religions are established. Do you think it would happen if the dogma was only offered? I don't. It has to be forced.

its not trendy....its how i feel........its that i dont want people who are just like me...telling me how God is and what he wants...theyve never seen/talked with him, so i know just as much considering the bible is shit.....

once again sorry to the religious

hmm...i guess you're entitled to your own opinion. i'm religious..but not super highly. i belong to an organized religion but i kind of take what i want out of it. for me it's a spirituality, and i don't mind if people don't worship a god or anything like that, as long as they find spirituality elsewhere because i think that's important. that's what keeps people sane. i don't really run around and promote organized religion, it's just what keeps me spiritual. do your own thing though, cause that's what life's for

that's exactly how I am...I'm catholic, but I don't really believe in everything they forced down my throat for 12 years. I have a twisted sense of spirituality, and it works for me. I go to church, but that's only because it's the only time I can really meditate and think and pray.

I think organized religion really doesn't matter in the long run. Create whatever works for you. Some people don't believe in a higher power, some do.
HARDCORE!!!

OMG. I can't believe I din't think fo you
until now because when I think on
a scale of one to ten you're like YWELVE.
No, seriously?

I think I already responded to this thread cuz I know it's a really old thread but I'm too lazy to scroll back and see what I wrote so I'll just do it again:

I'm catholic, I don't believe a word of it .. I stopped going to church once the decision was left up to me (thanks mommy) and I want no part of anything having to do with 'god' .. especially the catholic church's view point. I recently participated in a friend's wedding and during the ceremony had to sit through the priest bashing gay people and saying a woman's job is in the kitchen and he almost refused to marry my friends because they weren't 'pure' ... basically, he was a moron and made me despise church and everything it has to do with even more than I already did

yeah...whats God's deal according to these religions? one minute they say "the all forgiving" and the next they say "UR GONNA BURN IN HELL!" i mean give me a break....im not a virgin, am i a sinner? even so we all are sinners and i think God forgives EVERYTHING. thats not to say go on a killing spree but if you were genuinely sorry for it im sure it would be taken into consideration by God
