Tattooed Angels wrote:What is with you guys and NKOTB..Then again I know alot of people who were( and still are) huge fans.. I never was into them.. Although we use to joke around saying COME ON EVERYBODY AND DO THE NEW KIDS DANCE...

We didn't have to be fans of the New Kids to have that song remind us of theirs. It was such a popular and well-known song that even hearing the words "Right Stuff" brings back the memory.

(I was a huge fan though.)

I think every little girl in our age bracket was. I hate them and their stupid "comeback" now, though.

Anyway, I still haven't watched any of these vids. :( I want to so bad! Gotta get to bed cos I'm working again tomorrow, though.

Anyway... "Burn Burn"? Really? Interesting. Not sure how I feel about that. I'll have to let it sink in a bit.

crustine wrote:i do believe that Duncan was teased about the hair do - gene simmons style :p he laughed about it.

so far as i heard the album is called burn burn? and they are finishing it up thanksgiving monday, and possibly doing one more song. i never ask them about this kind of stuff, i over hear it enough though.

do remember that right stuff was played when none of them could feel their fingers, and white flags it was raining and fricken cold!!

I tried to bite my tongue and not comment on Duncan's hair for the East coast shows but I just couldn't stop myself! He handled the teasing very well.

I didn't hear the comment about the album title but both Steve and Duncan said they will spend a week, starting Cdn Thanksgiving Monday, finishing the album. They apparently won't be releasing it until the new year, which will be interesting timing because Chantal's album will likely also be out around the same timeframe and her April tour is booked. Will they alternate their tours or go on the road at the same time?

If Duncan and Jer are spending Thankgsiving week in Malibu... I guess they won't be voting in the election unless they participate in an early poll.

They could do absentee ballots too.

yeah, its not a hard thing to work around.

Exciting about the new album though, if we can trust their word on it. Out in the New Year, eh? Didn't they say that about HIPT in 2003...

i am sure they will have voted before they go to record.
I think Duncan is looking really healthy and happy so the hair seems to be a good thing

Meagan I must be the one person who does not think of NKOTB when I hear the song Right Stuff. Actually I think of the movie THE RIGHT STUFF..Then again I was not into NKOTB. They were after my time. ALthough I do know a few people only a little younger then me who loved them.. Like Nikki said in your age group everyone was into them. For me it would be Duran Duran. I was a huge Duran fan back in the 80's  ..I sitll see them from time to time, but not really a fan. Now U2( who I got into while in High School) is another story. Still a huge U2 fan

If you watch the interview with Raine I put up here he said they will finish in a few weeks.. There will be a single and other things out and the cd will come out sometime in the New Year.

here is the link. HE says this at about 244-250 mark

I love how he said the school they built was named after his son. I would think Rowan, but not sure.

Apparently my old school is organizing their own Busking 4 Change over 2 weeks later.. They always were bad with dates.
It looks like it might be cool though, they're going for 5 hours at Harbourside Park next Saturday.

Here is an interview and photos I found online with Raine and Duncan from War Child.

Selena Mann interviewing Raine Maida, and Duncan Coutts.

(Toronto)- It was a rainy Thursday afternoon on October 2 2008, not the kind of weather people like to be outside in. Nevertheless, there was a crowd gathered around the popular rain jacket-clad Canadian band Our Lady Peace, in front of 1 BCE Place.

This event was truly out of the ordinary as normally famous bands are not seen “busking for change”, as it said on a sign accompanying the band. They played singles such as ‘In Repair’ and ‘Innocent’ for the crowds that surrounded them.

Our Lady Peace traveled from 1 BCE Place to Union Station and then finished off at 1st Canadian Place; these are just some of the locations at which they played. They were among many other bands that participated in the one-day event in Toronto, raising money for War Child Canada. People were encouraged to donate money at these performances in the city as well as online to the site: www.warchild.ca/buskingforchange.

War Child Canada is a Toronto-based humanitarian organization that specifically delivers aid to children in countries where wars are occurring.

Lead singer and guitarist of Our Lady Peace, Raine Maida became involved in War Child in 2001 alongside his wife, singer Chantal Kreviasuk. The two of them went on a trip with the organization to Iraq to help deliver aid to poor and displaced children. The couple was also involved in One X One.

“I’m very passionate about this charity and knowing the founders because I put a lot of faith in those people,” Maida said.

Maida said he supports War Child specifically because 90 per cent of the money raised goes to destitute children in war-torn countries. He was also a part of last year’s street performing campaign and this year he brought his band along with him.

“We believe whole-heartedly in what War Child is doing,” drummer Jeremy Taggart said. The band also made clear that they were not doing this for marketing purposes.

”If we had no record coming out for two years we would do it,” he added.

Our Lady Peace expects to release their seventh album in early 2009.

“We got a mature honest good sounding record,” Taggart said.

Bass guitarist, Duncan Coutts smiled when asked about the album. ”It’s the very first time that it’s self-produced which is that we did what we wanted to do.”

The first single is called Burn, Burn. The album is still in production and the band members made clear that there were no favourite songs as of yet.

“I love it, I think it’s our best to date,” said Maida, grinning.

Some other artists who performed for this event the same day were Liam Titcomb, Brian Melo, and Neverending White Lights.

Hmm. At this point, shouldn't this thread be moved to the OLP section of the board? I know it started out as a more general busking thread, but it's really like 99% OLP now.
