which are 2 different things

why would you want to experience that? I do know a few people that when there are hurricanes up here go tot he ocean to see the waves. WHY I will never know. I like to be out of harms way. Worse is flying over one. When I was coming home from Florida in 79 we flew over one. It was scary. Normally I am not afraid of flying, but when you feel the plane drop a notch form turbulence it is then you realize there is nothing under you.. I have been lucky that I haven;t been aroudn for the major ones, but I have been around for the on-start of the hurricane when you get all the rain and strong winds.. I was lucky that I got one of the last flights out of Orlando last Sept before Francis really came through.

it was. It was Hurricane David. My parents took me to Disney World that year. We got it in Orlando, flew over it on our way back to NYC, then it hit NYC area. It wasn't as strong by the time it hit here.

I have flown over storms before. usually you don't fly, but in the course of flying long distances you may hit some turbulance cause there are storms in the area below you.. Worse is flying above a snow storm.. (Winnipeg to Toronto in 03')

Can I ask why? and what is a hurricane party..

around the coast a couple of people have houses that can stand 160+ MPH storms. (well atleast in houston anyways) these guys usually stay if it's only a 1 or 2 catagory hurricane and party in the solid structure. people usually get dropped off at this party and someone else (family member) usually drives themselves to safety. at least that's what went down at the one i went to. they were making hurricanes like it was going out of style.

it actually weakened, and it'll hit the Yucutan of Mexico before it gets to us. (assuming of course it comes this way) they're projecting a catagory 2, si we'll probably stay, although the tempetaure of the water in the gulf is like 85+ degrees. so i think it might strengthen more than just a 2.

I thought Emily was just a tropical storm? Has she been upgraded?
