now to decide do I want to go this show or The Stones show in Ottawa. I was talking with my friend( who lives outside Ottawa) about coming up.. (before knowing about OLP playing)She loves the HIP.. I said it is actually cheaper for me to see the Stones in Canada at top price ticket then at Giants Stadium. top ticket is 450, uppers are 100.. I love the stones and would love to see them agian.. tickets are way too much to see them down here.. funny thign this will be the second time OLP opened a show for them.. they did a few shows on 97' tour I think..
I can't wait to see OLP either way.. I wish they were playing Music Midtown in Atalnta again> i am going to that in 2 weeks.
Yeah the lineup is strange..I like to see Billy Idol again. He just played here and got a good review. I don't know. I saw him about 20 years ago. He is almost a parody of himelf now.. I do like Steve Stevens though..

You gotta decide if you'd rather see OLP play a full set or see a bunch of great opening bands and then the Stones. Tricky.

I am going to the Buffalo show.. The Stones show is afterwards.. I just really want to see OLP again.. It has been 2 years since I have seen them.. that is the longest I ever went between seeing them.. I saw them every year from 97-03..
They will probably get about an hour on the buffalo show where with the Stones get maybe 45 minutes... I wonder who will be the band before the Stones. I would think the HIP.. WOW if OLP are playing dates( even a few) does that mean we may actually see a new cd soon.. Hey one can hope..

I hadn't noticed earlier, but there's over ten bands playing this show. 10 bands for $35 is a pretty sweet deal. If there isn't a full tour listed in the next couple of weeks, I'm going to see about taking some time off and going to this show.

Double post. I checked our vacation schedule and the weekend of this show is open, so I can take that week off if I choose.
How many of you guys are planning on going? I'd like to fly into Buffalo on Saturday evening, and leave Monday morning. If some of you wanted, we could get a hotel for 2 nights. I would just need someone to pick me up, and drop me off at the airport. Everyone who is planning to go, just post in here and we'll try to organize it like we did the UCMMU.

Matt I live 2 seconds from the airport so i can pick you up and drop you off to your hotel. I recommend the Holiday Inn Express and it's pretty much right across the street and I've heard it can be for only $60 or so per night.

I am def going to Edgefest so i can give you a ride downtown from wherever you decide to stay.
So everyone knows, at Edgefest in 2001 OLP played 15 songs, so that's darn close to a full show. And how could some of you resist hearing the new songs before they're released!!!

Sweet! That would be awesome. I'm gonna pull my hotel discount list off our intranet at work tonight. Thanks for the offer, Pete. I'll get back in touch with you as soon as I get more details worked out.

It takes about 20 mins to get from the airport to The Pier...there is a bus system called NFTA that runs from the airport to downtown...i've never been on it, but i do know that it does not run directly to The Pier...

What hotels are close by the airport or the Pier? I'll be staying for 2 nights I guess, and flying home Monday morning. I don't know if anyone else is going to stay with me or not. If they don't, would it be ok to catch a ride with you to the show? I'll buy you a steak or something. Also, what is security like for shows there? I may bring the OLPness cam along for bootlegging :O .

I ordered my ticket yesterday. I'm pretty sure I can get the weekend off, the only other person with that week off is my boss, and that doesn't matter since she doesn't work night shift.

Here is the listing of hotels near the airport...

Here is a listing of hotels downtown, near the Pier...
http://www.google.com/local?hl=en&lr=&q ... &oi=localr
when you look at the maps, where Route 5 is listed is where The Pier is...you can pretty much roam around the links i've provided to figure things out
And by all means i'll give you a ride to the show...even if you stay downtown i'll pick you up on my way to the show...and like i said i live 2 seconds from the airport so you got a ride
Security is different at every concert location...at a concert at a college downtown they did an extreme search and didnt allow anything...at previous Edgefests they just let you walk through...it pretty much is dependent on the Pier...my gut feel is they'll tap your legs if you wear cargos and the security won't be that serious, but you never know

Cool. Thanks for the info and the ride, Pete. I really want to record the show, which is why I am wondering about security. I got my camcorder into Weezer without a problem. I pulled my hotel discount list off our work computers last night, and I get good discounts at a lot of those hotels (from 10-35% depending on the hotel chain).

your best bet would be to call The Pier and ask about security for Edgefest
