It's actually the SAME rap station that took over DRE back in the day. They moved it from DRE's numbers to Y100's to get the stronger signal.

ACDC's awesome... but Y100 doesn't play them, so that wouldn't have worked.
Someone changed the lyrics to Pearl Jam - Alive to fit our situation and sang it over the bullhorn, though.
We also weren't allowed to play any music or anything at that protest... it was semi-illegal.

HAHA. today 93.1 DRQ which is a rap/r&b station got switched to rock/classic rock because it was the lowest rated station in the detroit-area. i thought to myself "oh, so this is how the world balances itself out."
