Nothing...I don't think he wants me to buy a car at all. If anything, a stunning Honda. Blech. My family owns three. I am sick of them.

What were his reasons for not wanting you to buy the Mazda?

Hey I like 'em. I will love them when I have kids. But right now, I'm childless and single. I want something fun
He doesn't want me to buy the mazda because it is moderately expensive payment wise and...that's about it. See the thing is I want to buy a new one because my payment is the same with the lower interest rate as it is with an older when with a higher interest rate. So I say, if it's the same, why not get new w/ the warantees and knowing exactly where its been?

Agreed, if the payments are going to be about the same, might as well buy new. You'll run up more money in the long run replacing parts on the used. The main question is, can you afford the payments, and fulfill your other financial obligations?

and from everything that I have read (although i have not headed this advice) it never makes sense to buy a new car. If you work it out the 10 grand you save buying a used never gets spent on repairs so in the long run it makes little sense to throw away the thousands you loose just by driving it off the lot.
My first car Betsy was a red vet (chevette) used 3 grand with 60 thousand klicks on her. She lasted 8 years and when the repair was going to cost almost 2 grand, we parted ways. She was a great car and not bad for the initial investment.
just a little food for thought.
personally i like toyotas they are very reliable and have very few repairs.

Yes, I can fulfill my other financial obligations because...I don't have any
I know all of this about the cars... it's just...I want the car I want, ya know? Seriously I know I'm being selfish, but I think I deserve. I've held off buying basically anything for this time when I have a good job and the life of a single person. I know I'm not going to be able to have whatever it is that I want just because I want it in the future, so I think I should do it now so that I can say I did. But...then there's always the worry wart part of me.
Thanks guys
Also, Freedom Writers is a bit long. They could have cut out all of the dialogue between her and her dad and her and Dr. McDreamy and it would have been a good length.
