Thanks Matt. Any word on a release date for the sigle or the album? How were the new songs?

Monkeybones was really good, Waiting for Something to Happen was mediocre, and Nikki and I still can't get over The Right Stuff.

Guys,
My concious kicked in earlier today and I decided to want to record the show but my DAT recorder died on me as I was about to hit record...
Believe it or not ...I was PISSED!!!
I'm in the process of buying a TCD-D8 I believe...
Matt ....I have the money. Any suggestions on newer digital recorders, microphones, bass roll offs, etc. Any other suggestions to beef up my recording gear would be greatly appreciated. I want to be able to bring the best live OLP to everyone.
My dead TCD-D7 already had an audio technica mic and bass roll mechanism.
Cheers All. I look forward to recording new OLP and sharing with you all
Happy New Years.

Smooke! I wish I had known you were there. You could have met up with us.
Try investing in a M-Audio Microtrack II recorder. It records in high resolution audio to a compact flash card. As far as mics, maybe check out taperssection.com for reviews on microphones and such.
Did you ever transfer your Edgefest recording from 2006?
As for last night, Monkey Brains was the best of the new songs. The Right Stuff, as cheesy as the chorus is, is still a catchy song. Mark it under guilty pleasures. Waiting for Something To Happen, I'll have to listen a few more times. Raine's voice sounded a lot like Better Than Here, which is what the song reminded me of, and I wonder if this new song is what it evolved into. They played well but seemed rushed because they went on stage 15 minutes late. Otherwise, a very solid performance for -4 degrees.
Amended setlist, with the correct order:
Naveed
Superman's Dead
Angels/Losing/Sleep
Hope
Waiting For Something To Happen
One Man Army
In Repair
Clumsy
Is Anybody Home
Monkey Brains
The Right Stuff
Innocent
Not Enough
Encore Break/Midnight countdown
Somewhere Out There
Starseed

Is it on the hub? I haven't been there in years and have to figure out how to get back on now. Crap.
I'd love to hear the new tunes. Thanks for the report guys. It's much appreciated for the few die hard fans.

I think this is the first time they've played them (at least that I've heard of, except The Right Stuff, which they play too much IMO

). So Brooklin Matt, you'll probably have to wait for Mattyface to get them all ripped and put up!

That's fine with me. I'm hoping someone just puts it up on Youtube.
Yeah, TRS I've heard before and don't really need to hear until the album comes out. I feel damn sure it'll be on it now.
I really liked Dreamland. Hope that makes it.

Hey Matt,
I already let you guys know that I was coming in this thread. But, I never knew I was going to record until the very last minute. If I knew I was going to record ahead of time I would've letcha know.
I never recorded the edgefest 2006 show. Honestly I only record shows that I feel like recording lol. This show being that they most likely were going to play new stuff I had too!
Where did you get the presumption that I recorded edgefest 2006?
M-Audio Microtrack II ...hmmm...I'll take a look into it. Also I'll take a look into taperssection.com. I'll keep you posted.
Take Care

I would avoid DAT these days -- too many moving parts and the tapes are expensive. Maybe go with an M-Audio Microtrack II (or other flash-based recorder) or one of the 1-bit recorders that Korg makes (Korg MR-1 for stealth work).

How do they sound without Joel?

Megan says they sounded like OLP without Joel.
Group consensus in the car denotes that while Joel is a cool guy and Pedestrian is great, Joel never really added a lot to OLP, nor did he take away from anything.
IMO Steve really stepped up on the guitar and has added a lot more to his part where it was more of a shared or alternate role w/ Joel

I will be sad if TRS makes it on the album, but I can only hope that when it's recorded it'll be tweaked and improve from what it currently is.
The new song is called Monkey Brains? That's quite interesting. Can anybody give me any idea or comparisons of what the two new songs sounded like? Please?
I'm so jealous that you guys got to go and I didn't.

TRS has already been recorded, considering the album went into the mixing stage in towards the end of November. So my guess is, what people are hearing live is pretty much what it will end up being if it makes the album. I'm positive it will though, as it's been played the most out of the new songs.
