My friend bought me a bottle of champagne to celebrate my new apartment and I can't open it because I'm incompetent.

Take off the foil, untwist the wire 'cage' over the cork. Once untwisted ease it off the cork. Have a glass on hand. Grip the head of the cork and slowly twist it back and forth until you feel it start to move. If you want the POP ( which bruises the champagne) continue to twist and when you feel the pressur pushing up on the cork let it pop. If you wan to do the quiet version , once you feel the cork pushing up use your hand to hold it back and slowly let it come up.

enjoy

There is no cork. I know how to uncork a bottle :P It's supposed to be a twist top, but it won't twist. It's like it's glued on. I dunno.

I'll make my dad do it or something.

I didn't mean it that way, I swear.

do you have pliers? or sometimes you have to run a knife over the ring and the top. I have that happen with olive oll alot. It is soo frustrating. you should be enjoying your new place with champagne.

Sorry about the cork confusion...they really should have bought you one with a cork for celebration..I have corks from many special occasions :)

Mm. I'll have to work on it some more once I get moved in. Now that I am definitely in and can start getting my stuff out of my shithole apartment in Albany, I can REALLY celebrate.
