Aw, we're special! Thanks so much Trusty!
That's 5 now, window seat, rabbits, find our way, allowance and fire in the hen house.

Regarding the song, sounds so much different than I expected from what we heard before. Very atomospheric and cool :)

That chord at 0:07 of the Window Seat clip gives me chills. Love the background groove.

Gotta say I had reservations with some of these clips, but now listening to them all together they're growing on me by leaps and bounds. I am now of the opinion that Fire In the Henhouse in its current version fits in better with the other clips now.

Really impressed by the feel of the album. I think with one or two clips we only had the rest of OLP's backlog to compare it to. But with more clips its all coming into picture. Definitely an interesting cool new sound for OLP. Very much looking forward to it.

If I had one minor complaint, some of the recordings vocal seem too polished which has been a trend since Healthy in Paranoid Times. For example, I don't think Raine needed to double the vocals on Window Seat..in fact my favorite vocal treatment was the hi-pass filter lo-fi sounding vocals from Raine in Rabbits and also in Find my Way is pretty good. Also, more oomph would be good. A lot of the first 4 records were pretty straightforward single-track recordings with incredibly passionate recordingsand the appeal was that it sounded really honest- just like Rabbits does even if he's not like screaming at the top of his lungs. Gravity had more effects to Raine's voice but it was reallly well done in my opinion- which was helped in large part by the fact that Raine's voice is incredibly powerful on that record. To to sum up the vocal situation: would be great to see a return to more simple non-fancified vocal recordings and more power in the future. The appeal of OLP to me has always been its unbridled honesty, imperfections and all.

All that aside this is shaping up to be a record I'll be listening to QUITE a bit. Impressed.

You have 7 days to post 5 more songs... we won't let you forget and if you do... well, I'll punch you in the face.
“Music doesn’t have the power to change the world. What music does is it changes people, & that changes the world, so to say that music doesn’t change people anymore is just ridiculous. It does everyday. It doesn’t have to be on a political or social level. You could be feeling shitty & it makes you happy & if that’s all it does, it’s changing the world. It’s making it a better place.” ~ Raine Maida

I thought next Tuesday, the 27th? So, four more songs to post. Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon in preparation for Tuesday's stream?

As I'm hearing the clips, the style of the record is really coming into focus for me. It's got a different kind of energy that I don't think we've seen from them before, and I think it sounds really great. I'm trying to find the right word to describe it...melodic, moody, groovy...

Edge is a shitty guitar player who relies heavily on cheap effects. Steve is the real deal. Can't wait to hear these tracks in full, it feels like OLP is swimming out of the shallow end again and I'm liking the results, maybe not the hardest rockers but they all sound musically challenging thus far... We still need warnings though, Kickstarter fund to release OLP b-sides on the (not yet existent) Clumsy Monkey record label? It could happen.

I'm glad the guys wrote an album this time, I didn't feel like HIPT or Burn Burn were, more a collection of songs. Gravity, though I'm not a fan still felt a lot more like a whole than those two.

Thanks Todd. And I am wondering the same thing about Fire.. that chorus was awesome. I can accept if it's just a different song now. Hope it's good.

Wow. I'm really digging what I'm hearing from "Window Seat". You can hear so many different elements within one song and its catchy! This doesn't really sound like anything that OLP has done before but the hearing the songs one after another, I get a certain coherent vibe. From a musical standpoint, the melodies/rhythms are definitely on a higher level than what I've heard in BB and Healthy in Paranoid Times.
And if I don't make it known that
I've loved you all along
Just like sunny days that
We ignore because
We're all dumb and jaded
And I hope to God I figure out
What's wrong

Edge is a shitty guitar player who relies heavily on cheap effects. Steve is the real deal.

well, edge is effects...a lot of efx everyone uses these day pay hommage to him....but give him an acoustic and aks him to play a tune and well yeah he sucks lol but he is more than a guitar player, he fills a void and fills it well - he himself is an intrument and uses efx and his guitar to complete that instrument

on the other hand, steve is simply sick, i know a lot of guitar players, musicians and well im a bit of one myself - and i can tell ya steve is a sick guitar player and im happy that on this record he really shines, to be honest this record wouldnt be possible without him - lots of the songs came straihgt from his demos and he has been super involved from everything to writing to even engineering sometimes - dude is a true talent and one hell of musician and quite simply an amzing sick guitarist. Just hanging out with that guy makes me better...and that is pretty powerful.

as for record - this is a real record something i havent heard in years....decades even, everyone is top of thier game, every part was scrutinized and perfected....not in a clinical sense but in a "we can do better " sense....and it shows, deff one of the most mature musical record i have heard in the last 20 years.

to me this is not OLP, this is what OLP always thought they could be....and that is fucking awesome.

Window Seat sounds VERY interesting. Really dig Raine's melody in the hook, and towards the end I still pick up on that Spanish sounding guitar vibe I got from the soundcheck. Expecting all types of cool ambient guitar effects in the background throughout as well.

Sounds like it'll be a great track.

Getting that vibe myself, glad we're on the same page. It's not like I hate all U2 songs, but I think there's a big difference between someone who can lay a sweet jam on an acoustic OR electric like Mike McCready, Kim Thaiyl or Steve, and someone who just needs peddles and delays and hides behind distortion. I mean, I love a good effect/fuzz/distortion - my fave bands are grunge! But it doesn't mean much if there's nothing behind the riff. Since Steves first tour I've been sold on his playing. It is nice he feels comfortable enough to be leading the charge on the demos this time around, it speaks volumes about the band acting cohesively and makes me believe everything is firing on all cylinders.
