who says they won't both be fantastic? :P

personally, I think that if the songs are recorded, and if they're actually good enough for release, why not release them all? if it's good music, I'd love to have more of it. it may take more time to become familiar with all of the songs on both discs (twice as long as a normal album, presumably), but I think it would be worth it.

again, this is all contingent on it being a worthwhile double album. if it's just saturated and diluted crap spread across two albums, obviously that's not preferable. but there's no reason to turn down a double album when it could easily be well worth it.

if you want a bunch of good songs, there's definitely no reason to complain about twice as many. Still, I can't help but think the album is the definitive measure of modern music as an artform [/deep]. I'd take one near perfect album over a hundred great songs.

If matt manages to put out a double disc that really is that good and stays cohesive as a whole, more power to him. but i've yet to come across one that i like.

i have to agree... i'd rather have one near perfect album over a hundred great songs. i dont like sprawling neverending albums that seem to go on forever. i like concise things you can listen to with undivided attention. therefore i'd rather have a perfect album over a good double-disc album, or a perfect EP over a okay 11-song album

Matt also mentioned in his blog that if it wasn't a double album, he would probably put the rest of the songs up on his website.

If he really has a desire to use 20 minutes on a single song, you all better hope it's a double album or else a really great song!

Good work,

the original Canadian version is better though and has a better flow.

Not to mention you miss "I Miss New Wave" which is one of the best tracks on the CD.
