Oh and was down at rehearsals last night - i heard some songs I haven't heard in a really long time being worked up...
I cross my fingers that one of them was The Birdman, so it would means it's back on the set list....I miss that song!

Trusty- will there be another guitarist like they had at a recent show or just the four of them on this tour?
As for U2 guitar vibe that is Heavyweight for me. If I close my eyes and block out the vocals I would swear it was Edge. That is one of the highest compliments I can pay Steve. So proud of him. Finally came into his own ..

Jeremy tweeted yesterday that Robin Hatch would be joining the band on this tour. I'm pretty sure she plays keyboards and may have possibly toured with Arkells in the past... just speculating, though!

To Trusty and/or anyone else that may know: Does OLP usually use full track DRC on their records?

So you you think he sounds like Edge? That's not coming into his own if he sounds like someone else, which I wouldn't consider a very good compliment. I suggest not saying that to him, since it will confuse the hell out of him as it did I.
I also don't think it sounds much like any U2 guitar that I've heard.
But, I do think Steve has really become a highlight and has come into his own.

Re: New Album in 2012 - "Curve" April 3rd
I'm not really a fan of the loudness wars / dynamic range compression, but I think it's not the end of the world either. I also think that a lot of the professional mastering outfits do a really good job at compressing and bringing up the overall volume without noticeably distorting the recording and with preserving (but perhaps decreasing) dynamics between the loud and quiet sections of music.
It's kind of a double-edged sword too.
A lot of the portable listening devices and computers out there that the average listener is using does not offer the best signal-to-noise ratio. 16 bit audio in practice can give you about 98dB of dynamic range, but you're losing some of that fidelity on playback (some data from CNET: http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-11297_7-6510133-2.html ). If you're listening on impeccable, top of the line hardware it is one thing, but the average listener will surely get a better experience out of listening to a compressed, loud recording than listening to a more full-range recording where the quiet details are drowned out by the noise floor of their playback system.
The internal speakers in my laptop aren't great and don't go very loud, I think they were designed expecting that everything you play back will be mastered to present-day standards. When I play back a raw, unedited live concert recording for someone on my laptop, usually their first reaction is to say it doesn't sound very good. Over time I think I've figured out that what they actually mean (without really knowing it) is that it is just too quiet compared to what they are used to. By the same logic, I wonder if some of the kids these days don't like Naveed and Clumsy as much as the later OLP albums on some subliminal level due to the quieter mastering on those records.
Kinda sucks for the audiophiles, but I think it would totally alienate 99% of listeners to release an album that doesn't have a lot of compression used. I think it will take baby steps to get back there.
So not only would it be an F-U to radio, but it would also be an F-U to the average listener... which most OLP fans are. Sad but true. I guess they could back it off a bit, but I also think it's nice to be able to listen to a song off one album then a song off another without the loudness being too awful different.

For your information I have told Steve he reminded me of Edge on a song and he took it as a compliment and thanked me.

lol
i think the edge is a tool - no offence to anyone but the edge i guess heh - but yeah if you watch "it might get loud" it just makes me think this even more - up against page and white he really sticks out as being kinda lame....not to metnion he's the only guy in the movie that needed help turning his gear on
it was kinda sad as i am a big u2 fan, well pre-disco outfits and shit.
Great parts , killer songs and unreal fuckgin sounds?? you bet your ass, some of the best tones, songs and parts ever , but awesome guitar player the edge is not...at least in my opinion.
oh, and his funny hats and mega castle houses piss me off too
weee!

Will the forthcoming clips flow in accordance with the album release date? Or the early stream date?

Nevermind, question answered, thanks Trusty. Dunno if you have the clip's release order planned or not yet, but I would kindly like to request Window Seat tomorrow
