so i had some virus that you supposedly get in email but the email it showed i never got so i have no idea how i got that virus. And Norton is stupid and wouldn't just delete it so it took me 5 hours to get rid of it :mad:

Then Comcast decided to kill my connection for a day. I really really hate my computer. :cuss:

Hey, Neil, let me know when you get Paint off of me so I can unshare it. I tried looking through my completed uploads to see if you did, but for some reason it won't let me sort them so I can see who got what easier, and Jonathon's downloaded like every OLP picture I have on my computer within the past day, so the list is pretty hefty to look through. :lol:

Nikki - What do you use to make wallpapers??? I'm thinking of making a "Friends" dedication one, for shits 'n giggles.

Was also thinking of trying to take a picture of Raine and a picture of Reese, and putting them into a wallpaper. I think my fiance would find it amusing.

Did ya get Paint? You said you were going to, but sometimes people get sidetracked, so I'm still sharing it. :lol:

It was actually in the System32 folder, under the main Windows dir. But you could really save it anywhere, just as long as you know where it is.

To make wallpaper (or any graphics or do any photo editing, etc.) I use JASC Paint Shop Pro. :thumbs:

No, didn't get paint off the hub, but thanks for sharing it anyways. I'm on a router now (my best friend moved in downstairs, and we're sharing 'net) so that's literally made it impossible for me to download shit.

Oh wait.....it could be cuz of the firewall??????? What cha think?

Disabling your firewall completely isn't always a good idea (yeah, they're annoying, but they do serve a purpose). But on the hub, with a firewall/router, just go into passive mode (it's in Settings), and you can download from me. You could do some port forwarding if you want (that's what I did to get active, cos I also have a firewall and router). If you decide you wanna do that, let me know and I'll post the how-to directions.

gimmie the directions and I'll at least check it out. I miss the hub. My friend downstairs owns the router (and does the stuff with the IP) so if I need him he's only a "floor beating" away.

Well, you can still hub with the router. Just go into your settings and choose Passive. :nod:

But, if you want to be active... here ya go:

DC++ Client : Installing / Setting up : How do I configure my firewall/router to run DC++ in Active mode behind it? wrote:Active mode requires both TCP and UDP access on the same port for DC++ to work properly

• First you need to set up the router to forward the connections to the computer with DC++. This is could be called Port mapping, port redirecting, port forwarding or something like that. Find out how to do this with your router/NAT in the user manual.

• You need to forward one port (select a number between 1024 - 65535, they should mostly all be free. The default port is 1412, but it is wise to select a unique one) and make sure both UDP and TCP is forwarded.

• The IP that you are forwarding to should be the internal IP address of your DC++ computer. It usually begins with "192.168", "172.16." or "10.x.". Go to the command prompt and type: ipconfig

• When you have mapped a port, you need to open up DC++ and go to the settings. Where you select active mode, in the port field, enter the port number that you are forwarding on the router.

• In the IP field, you need to enter the external IP address of your router. Sometimes your IP address changes, if you have a dynamic IP, when you disconnect from your internet connection. Check your IP every now and then to make sure. It should now be working. If it is working for a while, but the next time you use DC++, you only get "Connection Timeout’s or no results when searching, your IP is likely to have changed.

What about ZoneAlarm?
Forget it. ZoneAlarm is a known issue with DC++, it causes corrupted downloads/uploads, this is directly linked with the 'Rollback Consistency' error message. You need to completely uninstall it, just disabling it will not help, and then get another firewall.

Windows XP?
If you're running windows XP you need to make sure the built-in-firewall of XP is disabled.

It's not as hard as it seems.
