Oh Rob I thought about you all night. I felt like you must have been having a horrible time. I showed up at the club at around 7:50 and was pleasantly surprised that A) they had opened the doors early and B) that I found parking right outside the club.
I start across the street and see the sign but unable to comprehend what it meant "Matt Good Postponed". huh? Then one of the roadies met me on the street telling me the shows cancelled Matt was taken to hospital by ambulance. My mouth was on the ground. He told me that they took him from the tour bus and that he felt he would be okay. All I could think about was Rob, whom I had seen earlier in the afternoon in line. Rob had to witness Matt being taken away. Could not process it. Any way this dude chatted with me for 5 minutes which was kind as i was really in a state of shock. We talked about the nutty tour and he told me that they have cancelled Mondays show as well and that Matt has been going through alot of stuff lately, and having a hard time. I told him to let him know that his fans are rooting for him

Running for Home suddenly makes a lot more sense, I've found.
So low for how high
it's all about emotion. clearly not about a concert, more likely love. it's all the same, though. you start out high, excited, enthralled, in love. then something happens. you break up, you lose out, disappointment, exclusion, dark realization. Suddenly you're low. So damn low, especially considering how high you used to be. I always liked the line, but I didn't really get it before.
Anyways, I was surprised to find today that I'm listening to MG without feeling like crap (which is how I figured it would be - thinking about the show while I listen). I'm still thinking about it, wishing everything had worked out for all concerned, hoping Matt's okay, wondering if/when he'll play here again. But it's helping me really listen to the songs again. When you listen to an artist too much, songs become routine, lines and sounds remembered rather than heard. I'm hearing them again now.
And I love them all the more for it.
I hope Matt's okay. I hope he plays here soon. I want to be excited about shows that will be, not regretting a show that wasn't.
