I'll make sure to show up in your theatre when you go then. Ruin your day and all.

I kind of want to see Passion of Christ for all of the controversy, but Cain doesn't want me to see it because I'm Jewish and he doesnt want me offended. I don't really think I would be.

^^You wont be if you go in with an open mind. Every character besides the Romans in that movie is a Jew. Some are bad but of course some are very good. Jesus of course was a Jew as well as his followers. That and the romans are the ones shown as the cruel ones, not the Jews. Honestly i dont get what the big deal is. So what if theres an "angry Jewish mob." That in no way means that all Jews are like that. Just like the Germans in Shindlers List doesnt represent every German out there.

I'm Jewish too, and in no way should that stop you. If you end up being offended, it won't be because of bible misinterpretations. It will be the violence.
People take this a little seriously. One movie is not going to turn the world on the jews. Gibson did turn some quotes and stuff around, and it sure doesn't benefit us, but it's not the end of the world. If we get agitated, that's when the world notices us and hates us. We should just let this slide since it won't do anything.

im jewish(ish) too. and i think its incredibly stupid that people are taking gibson's artistic view on something as reality. i dont especcially want to see it though...don't get what's so great about it. :freak: i've seen movies about jesus's life, what makes this one different?

Posted: 3/11/2004, 10:57 pm
by Joe Cooler
Its different because this version doesnt sanitize the suffering of Jesus like other films have.

oh. i see. I can't recall if the other ones i've seen did.

the guy was nailed to a cross. how sanitized can it get?

they spit on and degrade him big time. what other movie are you going to see Jesus getting spit on? and what an ass kicking he took. when they put him on the cross this time, it was nasty, he didn't look human.

i don't see anything in that movie that would offended anyone.
