I absolutely adore the demos lyrically, musically I don't think they're fantastic but hey... they're demos and it's very decent stuff.

Where did you guys get the demos? Now that I think about it, I think I've only heard 3 or 4 of those songs.

I got them from the hub. They're usually labeled "History Teacher", since that's what they were called when a band member (I'm not sure who, actually) decided to sell them without Matt's permission.
Here's the discography for them:

There's only a couple of songs from the Rochester Kings (Matt's old band), and the rest are just MG and MGB.

So apparently Matt's decided (at least for the time being) to write his next album on a bass (instead of on guitar & piano).
I ... don't know what to make of this. On one hand, it could turn out cool.
On the other hand, I really don't want him to make guitar and piano an afterthought. :\

You do realise that Matt changes his mind very often, so it quite probably won't happen like that.

He does tend to do that, doesn't he?

he probably just plans of featuring bass more prominantly. Maybe it's been fostered by the current affection for bass being shown in the Indie world.
Death From Above
Metric
The Ladies and Gentlemen
The White Stripes (yes i realize it's a guitar an octave down)
and various other Candian indie bands

lol i just thought of Matt doing a Death From Above/Metric esque album. LOL.
He's probably into that kind of Music, but i can't see him doing it without laughing.
Although i could see him doing something like BSS or The New Pornographers

Hence my use of "(at least for the time being)"
I don't think he changes his mind any more than anyone esle. He's just one of the few artists who regularily says what he's thinking of doing before actually doing it.

Anyone ever wonder whether "Coming Out Purple" maybe has a homosexual theme?

I thought of it, mainly because of the phrase "Coming Out" paired with the colour Purple (gay pride colour, isn't it?).

Matt's going to be on The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos from around 6:00 until after midnight doing election coverage. Unfortunately, it's only on CBSNewsworld, and I only get plain old CBC.
I hope there's another channel that picks it up, because damn I want to see this. This would be Matt at his best. You can only say little bits of political stuff in music interviews, and I imagine George will basically give him free reign to rant about a few things.
