Actually it is. Running in 3 feet of snow isn't exactly what I would call an enjoyable workout. The cold itself isn't a problem, but running indoors during a Saskatchewan winter makes way more sense.
Hockey, however is a totally different thing. You can do that in pretty much any temperature and usually the city is pretty good with cleaning the ice so that we don't have to try to skate in 3 feet of snow.

i didnt say you could run outside all the time
but their isnt always a couple feet of snow everywhere
they do clean the streets eventually

They do, but once the snow's gone, why run on extremely icey surfaces when you could just go play hockey at a rink?
