However, if me and Matt had a sleepover, Jenny might be.

I definately appreciate Matthew Good. But it's times like these that I wish I had been born just a little bit sooner, because I don't know many of his songs. From the ones I have heard, though, I've gathered that I love him and hope to receive some cds for Christmas...
Anyways, I love "Weapon" and it's one of my favorite songs EVER. "Hello Time Bomb" is pretty awesome, too.

I don't know if you guys saw this, but I think it's absolutely amazing.
Check out the second comment on Matt's blog post from Tuesday, and the replies:
http://www.matthewgood.org/mblog/?p=579
I was stunned when I read that. I hoped that it was just a prank, but I knew it could easily be serious. In the comments that followed that post, Matt decided to get some help from some of the folks that read his blog to track down Chris.
And then today, the result of their efforts:
http://www.matthewgood.org/mblog/?p=587
I can't even put to words how amazing it is that Matt and his blog community came together like this to help him. It really says something about the power of human compassion, not to mention Matt's connection to his fans.

Since you guys either didn't read this or just didn't comment, and since there's been a major development in the story, I've made a thread for it here:

So if you do have a comment on it, put it there.
...and now back to your regular "The Matthew Good Appreciation Thread" progamming.

i was so happy to see that he got help.
I read the Mblog more then I read here, thus me not commenting.
Did anyone else see that he had planned on doing a Room's version of "I Miss New Wave" i would have been ecstatic. That was the song that really made me fall for Matt Good, and to this day it's still a favorite of mine. It's strange to me that no one ever mentions it when they talk about Matt Good songs, i love it.

Got the new Chart magazine today, and there's an interview with Mr Good.
I'll give you the highlights. Some good, some I'm a little weary of, and some that are just plain annoying (in that it's stuff that's been said 1,000,000 times before)... Matt quotes are in bold.
"Matt Good has already seen a few crossroads in his life (breaking up the Matthew Good Band, becmoing a blog warrior for Amnesty International, etc). Outwardly, it would seem that Good has chosen the light path over dark thus far. He insists he wanted the band to be about the art and other MGB members only cared about the almight buck" blah blah blah
"No, the corssroads Matt Good face are far more nebulous and presumably less sinister. They're more along the lines of "What do I do next?" I want to do something weird, Good says defiantly. Fuck 'em. Fuck people. Seriously. I'm tired of it."
"One of Good's first orders of business will be a return of sorts to the coffee-house singer days of his past. I'm going to do an acoustic tour in the new year ... I'm kinda putting together an idea right now where it's gonna be kinda weird. I want to put, like, a huge screen behind me and have the whole thing as a choreographed performance piece. Like, with weird footage being projected onto the screen."
"This is furthered by talk of there being only one other person on stage - a woman, dressed in stern secretarial grey, manning a bank of coputers to augment Good's one-man performance. He foreshadows that hte next album will be more "out there" as well. This isn't the first time Good has talked about breaking loose from the confines of his established modern rock palate. But they [the music industry] keep sucking me back in? Yeah! That's why I did the greatest hits, so I wouldn't get sucked back in
"Good illustrates his point by running over to his laptop and playing a new demo, tentatively titled "Black Helicopter I Can't Get Shot..." It's a bleak, lengthy crawl of a dirge more in tune with alt.gloom adventurers Black Heart Procession than Can-rock contemporaries Our Lady Peace or Sam Roberts. If the demo's any indication, the path good seems about to embark on could be a cold and lonely one."
It sounds really weird, but I'm looking forward to seeing his acoustic show. With or without projection screens and this anonymous woman.
Knowing Matt, he probably won't do half the things he's said. Like anyone, he'll likely change his mind along the way. But either way it should be interesting to say the least.
Also, I really want to hear this demo.

love this.
I just read the Chart article in paper form and damn, I'm excited for the future of MG. I'm not sure about the Black Heart Procession comparison though, hah.

Lyrics from
Near Fantastica:
You're going to take what you can get
a hammered styrofoam
beat into the West
live the highway in your home
you're going to get what you deserve
and not a penny less
concrete the natural absurd
only killers call killing progress
Fall on me
Black Helicopter
they're all I see
Black Helicopters
You're going to take what you can get
food aid rock and roll
absolution for your head
for Xbox, COINTELPRO
you're going to get what you deserve
and not a bullet less
hey Sammy, ain't you heard?
only killers call killing progress

It's awesome. If Matt hadn't hit it big i bet he would be a huge indie darling right now. For some reason when you hit it big, even if you're no longer a big artist the stigma always stays with you.
