Burn Burn: The Reviews
Happiness... just made me think of a cool glass of water with condensation bleeding off the glass on a beach in the hot sun. Clumsy was like a dark high alcohol content beer in a garage while fixing a car drenched in oil with the radio blaring.
Both different, but both equally fantastic.

That's surprisingly accurate.

I think one of the best things about OLP is that every single album has a different sound. Now that can be risky because you may disenfranchise fans between albums but I like it because you can put in a different album depending on what mood you are in. This revelation inspired me to make the attached image.

I agree with Corey! I think each album is unique...some I like better, but I don't hate any of them. I started listening to OLP with Naveed/Clumsy...but I actually really like Burn Burn - maybe its my older self that needs BB. I don't find it near as "risky" as some earlier albums...so I guess you can call it more mainstream.
If anything, I was introduced to this album at a live show and that's when I knew I would love it...they can rock it out live!

I do enjoy some songs off Burn Burn, but I don't really see myself making an effort to listen to some of these more than once if it wasn't OLP. If some of these songs were by other bands, I would immediately just shrug it off as something I don't like and change it.
That bugs me that the only reason I make the effort to listen to some of these is that it's an OLP album...

Escape Artist and Refuge are great songs, and Monkey Brains and Paper Moon are good but don't have the same power or even replay value once the novelty wears off. Then Dreamland and Signs of Life stand in the middle, as they are pretty good but not really that impressive. Then AYD, The End, White Flags, and Never Get Over You kind of stand at the bottom as either failed attempts or songs that simply shouldn't have been on the record.
Then for the bonus tracks, I'd say Time Bomb would stand with the good to pretty good, although I do see some hate towards it here. The Right Stuff is one of the better songs all around from Burn Burn, and I'd classify it as one of the "really good." I don't think I would have given it a chance if it wasn't OLP, but unlike those bottom four I mentioned (along with maybe even Dreamland) it's catchy enough and has clever enough lyrics to keep me hooked. Usually I'm for music that find a way to combine creativity and inventive-ness with the right poppy hooks to keep someone listening (a great example would be older OLP lol), but this is one example of a song that has me just with the hook.

I was put off with Dreamland in the beginning...I can't pin point what it is. It does have the poppy hook though...
My 2 year old has declared Monkey Brains "her song" so I will always love that song! lol She is such a little rock n' roller!
I like Paper Moon...when they played it live I had never heard it before, and I knew right away that I would like it. That is really hard to do, impress me with new stuff at a live show.
I am also impressed with people who know exactly why they like or don't like a song...for me its not always easy to explain.

Rock is dead, and paper killed it.
