kermit wrote:Whatever, let's just drop it. We won't have hockey back until at least October, realistically- December/January. It sucks but it's true. What really annoys me is that these stupid small market teams like Florida, Atlanta and Nashville fucked it up for the rest of us. Regardless of what the cap is, they still won't match it. They'll be at least 5 million below it for the next few years.

you got it all backwards son
stupid large markets like TO, colorado, etc ruined it all for everyone

why does chris pronger deserve to make 10 mil per when he has injury issues?
why does paul kariya deserve to make (well used to make) 10 mil per?
what has j.s. giguere done to deserve his contract? (gigger had 1 PLAYOFFS that was good, NOT EVEN a FULL FUCKING SEASON)
why does mats make 9 mil? what has he done lately to deserve that much money?
the teams you mentioned are going about it in a PROPER way
they pay players but they dont get out of hand with it
there is no player in the league that should be paid as much as some of the guys ive mentioned.. the only player who remotely deserves "big bucks" is mario, after mario, joe sakic and jarome iginla would be one of the only few who still deserve the money... i love stevie y. im a habs fan and i have nothing but the utmost in respect and love for the guy as a player but he doesnt deserve more than maybe.. and this is a BIG maybe 2 mil per
yeah that says 2.. stevie's a great leader.. one of the best in the league but he doesnt put up the points that he used to and as such isnt looked upon to lead the team in the way iginla does in calgary..
you're a leafs fan. its easy to blame the small markets for whats wrong with the league but in reality its not the small markets its the team in your backyard, its the team down in detroit.. the one in NYC, the one in st. louis, in montreal as well to a certain extent and the one in colorado, etc etc
go fuck yourself.

Sand, he's talking about how those teams blocked the players' proposal the Saturday after the season was cancelled, when it was rumored it would be uncancelled that weekend. At least that's what the media was saying.
Some of you probably think I left. But was I ever here to start?

Yeah I wasn't pointing fingers trying to blame teams for the shitty situation the league has found itself in.
and for the record, i agree with just about everything in your little rant

I'm one of very few Leaf fans that I know that will acknowledge the fact that the Leafs had a big roll in what is happening right now. :P

thats the thing
the whole point to this fight is the small markets
the leafs will still make money
the rangers will still make money (indirectly, atleast, the rangers and knicks are owned by cablevision who own MSG and the MSG network etc, they make money off of all the other crap they throw at the market and not thru their teams given the knicsk have a payroll in the 100 million range and the rangers had one in the 80 mil range last year for a while)
the other teams will be fine
sure the blues are losing boatloads of money but the dude who owns the blues is part of the family that owns/founded walmart.. yeah hes got a bit of cash now.. (thanks to president bush's tax cut thing the 5 members of that family were essentially given a billion dollar tax cut)
the av's are owned by another member of that family (i think one is owned by the actual family and the other by his brother in law or some such)
the big teams can afford to do nothing because they have more than enough money in their pockets
they dont care
all this does is make it HARDER for THEM to BUY teams and means they cant personally get as involved as they used to and just fix problems with money.. now they have to be patient and try and BUILD a team like the small markets HAVE to do or they will LOSE money guaranteed.. the whole fight is for them so to blame nashville, atlanta, florida is shortsighted, they did the RIGHT thing.
go fuck yourself.

its not Torontos fault that they make a profit, and i would rather see the money made off the team go back into the team

that being said they do have over played players like many teams

also aki berg.....
why is that guy still around

they get rid of renberg and reichel, thank god
but keep berg, disgusting

and good thing they didnt trade antrpov for Lecavalier when they had the chance, that would have just been stupid

its not TO's fault for making money
i agree with that
but the way the league had been going according to the last CBA it was getting into baseball territory where the difference between a midmarket team (jays) and the upper team (yanks) was 150 mil
in terms of hockey the diff between one of the lower teams (source not mentioned by bob mckenzie) and the top team (detroit) was some 40 million dollars
on one end the small teams HAVE only one chance in hell in winning and thats to go out and draft and develop slowly and get like 1-2 years where they have the legitimate chance to compete after which they have to be dismantled and they start all over again
that isnt going to build a fan base for that team or for the league
that isnt going to allow the teams as a whole develop further and create a product which CAN be sold to the masses as a viable and exciting sport
the way to get those things accomplished is to truly allow the teams to have an equal playing field and equal footing
go fuck yourself.

I'm so happy the leafs didn't resign him. But resigning Berg might be the biggest mistake in franchise history. Forget that, NHL history.

There's actually a lot of stupider moves, but I'm too lazy to write them out.

corey's been really good for edmonton
cross is a decent d-man
he just isnt fast
but if you put cross with a fast d-man or on a team with a lot of team speed and he'll be a good guy
i mean the guys 6'5 or something like that
he's a big guy so he can take on guys like bert in front of the net and thats what he does for the oil
they can pair him with a guy who is also slow and he'll still be good for the team cuz the team itself has speed
go fuck yourself.

yes i do remember Valk, how unfourtunate for me

and Cory Cross isnt bad

i mean hes no AKI BERG!!

good thing the leafs can get rid of a guy like Jason Smith but have the room to keep Berg around

also i think trevor kidd is just their to collect a pay check and not do much else, i mean the Leafs started calling up Tellqvist before playing Kidd

but atleast they have Antropov, because you know... hes the next Sundin,
who doesnt hit or score and gets injured whenever he touches anything
