Rusty wrote:Wow, I just stuck my foot so far in my mouth it's not even funny. Me and my friend were talking and I mentioned the movie War of the worlds. Then I asked her if she'd seen it, and she said she hadn't but she had planned to see it, back when it came out with her mom. Only thing is her mom died suddenly of a heart attack back when the movie was out. I didn't even know what to say when she told me she had been planning to see it with her mom. Now I'm fairly sure I've upset her, because the conversation seems so much more forced. Fuck!
Dude, that's totally not your fault and you shouldn't feel bad about it at all. You had no way of knowing.
I always hate that so much when something comes up that leads to me talking about my dad dying... cos I always bring down the mood and I really don't want to... and people usually feel bad about bringing whatever it was up. Gah.

It's been 10 years since my mum died and it's still always uncomfortable when it comes up in conversation. The only time it wasn't was when I knew the guy I was talking to's Dad had died and he said something along the lines of "oh fuck, I of all people should have known better" and we laughed about it cos we both knew how it feels.
So the moral of the story is - don't worry Rusty *big hugs*

The thing I don't understand about Thanksgiving is that we should be so thankful year round. Why have a hallmark holiday just to be thankful?

It's a time to get together with people you love and celebrate. Of all holidays, it's the least "Hallmark", in my opinion.
I love Thanksgiving.

i had a crappy night at work last night. this flap came off of the tort machine after tortillas got jammed in it, and i was struggling to put it back on for a while. three servers were standing there expecting torts to come out any second and i was like "i could use a little help here please!!" and i thought someone went to ask someone in the kitchen for me, but she was talking to someone else, so i had to go ask mattie myself and i think he was kind of pissed off 'cause it was really busy. and then he fixed it but i don't think he was too pleased. and when i left he didn't shake my hand and say good job like he usually does. he's my favourite and i don't want to disappoint him.
anyway. it's my birthday on tuesday.

Oh man, why complain about an excuse to be required to get together with your family and eat and visit?
