ditto two days ago

but I'm still waiting for Placebo (which I've decided that I'm regretting preordering because I could be overplaying it as we speak, but nooo...it's still en route...fuckers.)...

I got the new Ambulance LTD ep the other day...technically the 29th or earlier...but I couldn't get to UPS to pick it up--I'm rarely home when they deliver packages--until yesterday.

I got the Christiansen cd, too. I only bought it because of the songs Daryl Palumbo guests on.

The last batch of CDs I purchased:

Squarepusher - Music Is Rotted One Note
Stephin Merritt - Showtunes
Animal Collective - Grass (CD Single...it goes with the 7" nicely)

And my early candidate for Album of the year:

Man Man - Six Demon Bag

Best cd I've heard in a long long long time.

That will probably change come next week when the new Built To Spill cd finally comes out.

I think that EP is very excellent for an EP.

It's good, but I'd heard most of it before.

Beyond the demos and new stuff, I mean...

I actually have Fearless and Straight A's on vinyl, and I've had Country Gentleman downloaded for a loooong time.

I'm not sure about the guitarist singing, though...

I am glad they changed Sugar Pill from that version to the album version, too...

oh, and I got The Agony Scene's self-titled album last night in the mail.

Still waiting for Placebo...

Cyann & Ben - Spring

Think My Bloody Valentine, but acoustic, and with little flourishes of amazing sounds.

Hah, a new Saturday Looks Good To Me fan!

I should figure out how many people here like them, because Fred would love to know.

And this might freak some SLGTM fans out, but after seeing them play on Friday, it's safe to say they aren't a "motown" band or a Beach Boys sound-alike anymore.

They sound like pure noise. There was no more female singer, saxophone, or xylophone. It was just two guitars of wailing noise, a bass, an organ, and very deep, rhythmic drumming. I was shocked.

Well, if you're a fan of noise rock, then it's pretty good, but if not, then ehh...

Fred used to be in a noise rock band back in the day called Lovesick, and he was the singer/drummer. And as of late, on his record label, he's been working and recording with Wolf Eyes and the Genders, two prominent noise bands. It kind of makes sense that he is doing this himself, as he started with noise and all, but it's kind of jarring.

Celebrity - Mining for Twilight
Pretty Girls Make Graves - Elan Vital

Both have started out disappointing. I hope they'll grow on me.
