“Music doesn’t have the power to change the world. What music does is it changes people, & that changes the world, so to say that music doesn’t change people anymore is just ridiculous. It does everyday. It doesn’t have to be on a political or social level. You could be feeling shitty & it makes you happy & if that’s all it does, it’s changing the world. It’s making it a better place.” ~ Raine Maida

Listening to that first video (Dreamland), Raine is going to HAVE to change the octave of his voice if he is even thinking of singing the songs from Spiritual Machines. Even the original recording of Dreamland has him singing at a higher pitch. It's going to be interesting to see how his voice takes on the SM (and for that matter Clumsy) songs. I really hope he considers using a full-on falsetto for the tour.

Thanks for these!!! Thats the first good live version of dreamland that I've seen. Very nice work on escape artist as well!
Strong Alibi > I agree, His voice seems really low in that dreamland vid, not sure if he was having issues with his voice or not that day or what. But it will be VERY interesting to see if he brings out the 'full on falsetto'. I've been thinking about it ....how hes going to sing some of the songs and that some of them just wouldn't sound right without hitting those high notes...Especially Car Crash.

Matt have you got a video of Paper Moon at Electric Cowboy? I really love the version of that night....the falsetto before the guitar solo it's really amazing....

If Raine's version of "Moon Struck One" is a recent recording, then I say that if he wants he SHOULD be able to hit everything still. This is all based off the possibility that that recording is recent.
Also, They did Car Crash during the 2005 tour and he did fairly well, its no 1998 quality, but it held up in my book. If he does it like that, I wouldn't be disappointed.

I'm 99% sure the "Moon Struck One" recording is recent.
I'm hoping for more falsetto also, but 100% every night isn't realistic. Remember they have two night back to back and if you look at the schedule, a lot of them are close together. Something like 12 shows in 14 days. Poor Raine's voice would be gone completely if he did that.

Hmmm, maybe it's just me, but I don't think hitting one high note every once in a while (ie, Paper Moon, or Moon Struck One) can really tell us much about how he'll be singing Spiritual Machines songs. I can't really see the parallel between the occasional high note and all out falsetto singing like on the chorus of All My Friends, Blister, Happiness and the Fish, Car Crash, etc. The examples we have of him hitting high notes in the recent days are in a completely different vein than that of Clumsy and Spiritual Machines.
