When I was 16 they were talking to me about the possibilities of a scholarship there and so I got to see the school and check out some games/practices, meet players and coaches and it seemed like it was top class hockey. Also, didn't they make the Frozen four a couple years ago?
Yeah, definitely Canisius. Niagara is consistently good.

RIT is going Division I next year joining the Atlantic Hockey Association which includes Canisius.

Next to the Canadiens, the Leafs are the most storied franchise in hockey history.

given the amount of money "canada's team" has spent on talent over the yeras i'd say they SHOULD have won the cup but they havent
why?
a) theyre too busy bitching and moaning about the refs and missed calls (lets see.. tucker, mccabe, kidd if you count colin campbell and tthe whole goalie equipment thing, corson when he was there, others and the biggest one of all, pat quinn)
b) they dont seem to find/play a system and stick to it
if they did they would win
i despise the laffs
always have and always will
i despise the notion that thay are "canada's team"
canada has 2 sports in which it could possibly have a team that is considered "canada's team" both those teams are located in toronto but neither of those teams are the leafs. why? canada has 6 franchises and if going solely by support then the habs have just as much right to that claim as the leafs. end of story.
rusty wrote:A lot of fans can bad mouth the leafs, but the habs are just too bad to make fun of. Leaf fans everywhere take comfort in saying "our team may suck but they don't suck as bad as the habs."
this deserves one and only response: 1967
and for those who thing i only bash the leafs for the sake of it.. you couldnt be further from the truth
as much as i hate the team and all.. i still will sit down and talk hockey about them with a good buddy of mine... most of our talks revovle around their insistance on mortgaging their future for veterans who arent worth the cost especially given the state of the game financially something he now agrees with given the (eventual) impending cap... as far as i know.. when all of this is done and over with they still have to pay owen nolan 7 some mil for a year due to a lockout clause in his contract
thats 7 mil to a guy with a bad back and who is going to be who knows how old.
of a potential 42.5-45 million dollar cap
thats a waste of money and a waste of a 1st round pick + alyn mccauley and indirectly curtis brown (who is a really good shut down type player with offensive upside who made mike ricci expendable)
its not proper or smart asset management

THe really bad thing is... when hockey DOES come back.... the cap will be much lower than 42.5-45. It will probably be around 36 or 37, and now that the whole NHL mess is over for this season, it's clear to me that that was ALWAYS the NHL's intention. They never ever intended to give anything higher than 40.

Whatever, let's just drop it. We won't have hockey back until at least October, realistically- December/January. It sucks but it's true. What really annoys me is that these stupid small market teams like Florida, Atlanta and Nashville fucked it up for the rest of us. Regardless of what the cap is, they still won't match it. They'll be at least 5 million below it for the next few years.

That's because when it comes right down to it, the backbone of hockey is still just business and politics.
