by I AM ME
Scratch and tear,
pale and puffy,
gray and red,
make it bleed, out of your pores,
bubbling and erupting,
the cancer never leaves,
cut it all down,
just to find some sort of smoothness,
You wouldn't know,
you wouldn't know,
some sort of story,
you wouldn't know
Shudder and slink,
under your eyes, under the sink,
compass out of focus,
make it through, out of this world,
stumblin' and slipping,
no one ever leaves,
lock them all up,
just to find some kind of smoothness.
You wouldn't know

1. Note-taking pp. 159-165 on Point of View
2. Note-taking pp. 220-226 on Symbol & Irony
3. IMPORTANT: SEE YOU "EXAM SPECS" HANDOUT (MINISTRY DOCUMENT). WRITE DEFINITIONS FOR ALL LITERARY TERMS AND DEVICES
(A-Z) ON THE ENGLISH 12 LIST. SOURCES: A DICTIONARY OF LITERARY TERMS (BOOK OR ONLINE VERSION-SEARCH "LITERARY TERMS"...www.poetsgraves.uk.com (or something like that) has been a good source in the past.) THIS SHOULD BE READY FOR MONDAY THE 24TH.
Read the following stories (think about all of them in terms of all of the elements: plot, character, theme, point of view, symbol and irony...)
4. Read "Miss Brill" p. 357
5. Read "The Rocking-Horse Winner" p. 344 (Do Qs pp. 347-348 #1-9)
6. Read "Tears, Idle Tears" p. 109 (Look up the allusion in the title: Tennyson's poem "Tears, Idle Tears"--think about why the author chose to use this very direct allusion in relation to this story.) (Do Qs pp. 1-7 p. 116)
